This is a law assignment I had to do. I'm saying my speech for the "parliamentary debate" in an hour xd This is what I have; please check it out and give me feedback if you find it's quite convincing with a lot of factual information. Most of it was straight from my philosophical and morale mindset... the Bojinka was the only true factual information I obtained. Please tell me if it seems convincing, thanks.

Torture. What is the reason to use such action on people? Is it for vengeance? Is it for cruelty? Is it for power? Or, is it to protect society from any harm? When we think of torture, we can imagine inflicting pain on those we are against. We can imagine degrading an individual to his/her lowest form. But, do we ever think of the reasons behind these acts? This is what I will discuss in the following statements.

SELECTED torture is a useful technique that can provide security and safety to our citizens. It can allow our military to gain intelligence on our enemy's future attack plans, which can protect the citizens of our country. September 11th, 2001. A tragic day for the United States of America. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, killing 2, 973 victims because of the attack. Many family's have suffered because of the loss of their loved ones. USA's economy dropped due to the damage of property that was displayed after the attack. There is no doubt that we couldn't have prevented such a dishonorable act in the past; but, can we prevent such devastating death rates and critical decreases in the economy in the future? Tactics with physical and psychological torture has been used on terrorists by the US military in order to prevent future attacks from happenning. Many find this action to be immoral, and unhumane. Think to yourself, is it wrong to torture one individual, to provide security to a society of innocent people? Is it wrong to punish those who are willing to harm innocent individuals, in exchange to gain information on their agenda of terror? I know that I'D never want MY country to be in any danger, which is why torture is neccessary under this circumstance.

Torture appears to be very cruel, and unhumane. Yet, we deny the fact that our society produces psychological torture by implementing imprisonment on criminals. Is excluding an individual from SOCIETY because of his/her actions humane? I find hypocrisy in our own laws. It is correct to imprison an individual in a cell in order to prevent him/her from harming society. But, when it comes to a GROUP of individuals who all have the same agenda, and we only manage to have 1 of the individuals in custody, how can we find the remaining groups of people who plan to strike terror against anybody in their way? Asking the terrorist will not provide us with any intelligence, neither will bribing them. A great majority of terrorists are willing to give their lives for their cause; which is why torturing them for answers will give us the intelligence needed to provide security to our people.

Lets look at the Bojinka Plot in the Philipines. The Bojinka Plot was a planned terrorist attack by Ramzi Yousef and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed to blow up twelve airliners, which could have killed 4,000 passengers in 1995. He also formed a plan to assassinate Pope John Paul the 2nd. The Filipino Police drew attention when they noticed a chemical fire on one of the airlines. They arrested a terrorist involved in the act named Abdul Hakim Murad, who was sent to Camp Crame where he went through "Tactical Interrogation"; also known as torture. Murad confessed to multiple plans formed by his terrorist organization, preventing many other innocent people, and the pope from any harm.

If you still find torturing one individual to save multiple lives is unhumane; then is killing an unborn baby to save the mother's life unhumane? If an individual is threatening to kill hostages inside a bank, and a police officer kills him; is that incorrect? I find more hypocrisy in our world. If we are able to allow those actions to be used in our society to protect the masses; then why do we not do the same for selective torture on terrorists, to protect our society as a whole?

This is why we believe torture should be implemented in our society against terrorism. I thank you.

MY TEAM WON!

Just look at that. My speech had only ONE fact, and the rest was random s**t that came out of my head! The opposing team displayed about 10 facts per person (2 people, so that makes 20), and my partner didn't even write anything down and pretty much repeated what I said in a more "calm easy-going manner" while mine was "demanding".

People voted for my team BECAUSE I reached out to the PEOPLE! I brought EMOTION into it all, and made our own law system look STUPID so they were like "wow... I was against torture but now I WANT torture to happen"

I'm AGAINST torture... BUT, they pick topics randomly, and they pick "affirmative" or "negative" randomly, and I managed to get the hardest one out there so I used my GIFT of DEEP-THINKING to ******** them up. soowhoop xd
