affinity means that you have a strong connection to that element and can use it without using magic power, so you can essential use the element unlimitedly but the drawback is that it wears your body out making you more tired faster (like using chakra, which is a mix of physical energy and magic in which like magic you have a gauge but like an you can go beyond the gauge use, if you go past your body’s limit (which can be called similar to gauge of chakra) of which it can handle the repeated strain on your body that the affinity causes, you will die). unlike using magic which drains your magic gauge which you can only use so much magic at a time before it empties then after allowing your body to recharge (meaning not using magic which you are unable to anyway) you can use magic again this process does nothing to your body, powers, or etc. okay so an affinity can be stronger then magic but it can be vice versa as well, meaning it all depends on the user.
