It was dark, and a warm wind washed over the Arba lands. Njozi was awake, albeit a bit tired. Her sleep schedule had shifted as she had grown, going from being awake all night and sleeping during the day to a more normal sleep pattern. Still, on nights like this, when the moon was full and high in the sky, she couldn't resist a midnight stroll.
The young cheetah stretched her legs, bright eyes looking around to find a place to settle and watch the sky. She noticed a rock that barely came up past the tips of the grass, and decided it would be a perfect place for star-gazing. Looking down at her paws, the speckled patterns that looked so much like the night sky entranced her, and she loved to hold them up against the dark sky.
Trotting over, the small female climbed up onto the rock, still warm from the day's sun. She circled around a few times, trying to find just the right spot, and slid onto her back, eyes glued to the stars and mind lost in far away thoughts.

Jirachi's light hearted strides and general curiosity had taken him far from his usual resting place. He was a mostly nocturnal male, who tired easily in the sun's heat. Beyond physical reasons, he like to watch the sky. It was his only real love; the moon his plump mistress and the stars their sweet children.
His long, lean legs kept him up from the grass as he padded awkwardly with his head tilted up to the sky. By now all the physical exercise was starting to wear on him, giving his steps a bit of a drag.
Jirachi was too busy moon gazing that he didn't notice the rock until he collided into it. The male shrieked and stumbled back onto his rump. His foreleg was on fire! Nothing felt out of place, but it hurt just enough to make him feel like crying. He looked back at the rock to tell it how bad it was to sneak up on him like that when he saw the smaller cheetah. "Urm....sorry."

Eyes still glued to the sky, Njozi flicked her tail back and forth along the edge of her rock. She was focused, but not visibly so. Her ears barely moved when she heard a rustle in the grass, even when the sound became louder. One of these days, her obliviousness would get her into some serious trouble, especially since many bigger predators hunted at night.
Hearing the shriek, it took a lot of concern for her own well-being that finally got Njozi to turn and see what was just feet away from her. Blue eyes washed over the slinky body of another; it seemed hurt. Her expression was apathetic at best, just wanting to know that she wasn't in danger of being eaten rather then actual concern for the larger creature.
"Why should you be sorry? I'm not the one who got hurt." Her face had turned curious, and she rolled onto her back, looking at him upside-down now. "What are you doing out here, anyways? I've never seen you before." Not that it really said anything. Being asleep for a good portion of the day, she probably missed loads of others in her pride.

"Dunno." He answered simply with a little whimpered, licking his sore leg. At least the pain was starting to fade away. Jirachi would yell at him later about this, he just knew it. She was always telling him how clumsy he was.
Curiously, he twisted his body at an awkward angle so he could look at her straight, yet upside down at the same time. "Well, what are you doing out here? I've never seen you either. Are you a fallen star?" She was as pretty as one. Jirachi couldn't tell where she ended and the sky began.

"Star gazing." Njozi answered quickly. It seemed like it was the only thing one could do out at night, but Njozi was still unaware of the world of adults. "They're so pretty, sitting up there. But they seem a bit lonely, so I come out here to share my stars." Determined to hold an entire conversation while looking up at the stars, Njozi rolled back over, staring again into the dark abyss.
"A fallen star? You think so?" At those words, Njozi jumped up, staring straight at the pale cheetah. "Oh how I wish." Infatuated with the idea, Njozi romantically heaved a sigh as she thought about it. Never knowing her father, she had dreamed that she had simply fallen from the sky one night, into her mother's arms.

"Thats a wonderful idea. Your very generous." Just as determined to look up at the sky above, Jirachi stretched out on his back in the grass by her side. He wasn't aware of how awkward he looked, with one hindleg curled up next to the boulder and the other sprawled out. He didn't much care.
Jirachi's head perked up to look at the excited juvi. He smiled and nodded, half-rolling over. Wishes were his specialty and giving a wish to such a nice, pretty little female would have made his night. "You wish it, so it's true. To me, you are a fallen star, and even though your down here, you'll shine brighter than the moon herself someday."

Giggling a little, Njozi watched him with a grin as he laid down next to her. He didn't seem to be like most adults, who were always uptight and not wanting to just relax like Njozi did.
"Really? You mean it?" Almost hopping onto her side, Njozi's eyes were wide as she stared at him, a big grin on her face. Her toes wiggled against the rock in excitement. Scooting up to the edge, she reached her small paws out, feeling around to put her paws on his big shoulders. "Will you shine too? I think it'd be a little lonely shining all by myself."

"Of course! Lying isn't good for your heart." Jirachi placed a paw over his and smiled, tossing some of his golden mane out of his eyes. He laughed at her excitement, and scootched closer to make it easier for her to put her little paws on his shoulders.
"Me?" Jirachi blinked, generally surprised. "Your asking about me? Well, I....Huh." The adult was perplexed. Would he shine? "Yes, I suppose. Nobody should be alone, and if you wanted to share your sky with me, I'd love to."
