Hello guild, I would just like to get your opinions on this entity my father and I keep hearing in our house.

My father heard her first, he said it was about 2 in the morning when he heard crying. Not your small little whimpers, he said it was full on sobbing, like someone was very VERY sad. He thought it was me (because our rooms are right next to each other) But I was fast asleep, So he checked on my sister, whoes room in on the other side of the house. She was asleep also. So when he was standing in the living room, he said it was coming from all directions and he couldn't really determine where it was coming from exactly.

When he told me about this, I wasnt really surprised. We've always had a haunted house, our dresser is an antique and has a ghost attached to it. But my dad thought it was different, this one sounded younger, the one attached to the dresser is a middle aged woman. I put it in the back of my mind because a new session at my college was about to start.

One morning (about 7 AM) I was putting my makeup on in the bathroom. And suddenly I hear crying, but to me it sounds far away. I walk outside because I think it's maybe a child from the school i live next door too, but I dont hear it outside. I walk back intot he house, and I still hear it, but very very quiet. It sounded to me like hard sobbing, but like someone had turned the volume down on a TV show.

I heard it again last night, but only for a few minutes, then it stopped. I don't feel scared by it, I'm just curious to know who it is and why their crying.

Any opinions?

Well my first reaction would be that it's a banshee but this is highly unlikely (unless your family is of noble scottish/irish blood).

My next thought is that is might be a sort of record of something that happened in the past. A theory I've heard of is that the stone (brick in this case I'd guess) sometimes record and play back things that happens in the past. This could be the case now. This being said it could only last for a short time.

If it carrys on you could have a spirit that has just started to show its self.

banshees i know they say they wail but its actually singing a wailer at a funeral is someone who sings. I'm fairly sure my family has one, though i cant be sure that's what it is since i don't know my blood line i just know that most of it on both sides is Irish with a little Scottish and English. I just know i have heard it after some people have died in my family. Some have been known to foretell death but they from my understanding of the lore go out to the family members of the dead to let them know that someone has died. If their foretelling death that's when you hear the other noise they make which has been said to sound like a dog crying screeching etc. =)
but anyways! i hope that what ever it is in your house finds peace and that it bothers you no more. I'm sure waking up to sobbing at 3 in the morn can be a bit unsettling.

Actually banshees have at least three different calls. One is a long drawn out sob that foretells illness, the next is loud wailing to tell death is near and finally it's a full out screaming cry when someone finally dies. This cry normall only lasts for a few seconds/minutes.
