I'm old enough to remember when not everyone had windows movie maker at their disposal and AMVs were serious business. You had to have access to expensive video editing software (or for teh really old school among us vhs editing equipment) and your audience was primarily con goers as there weren't a lot of outlets for sharing what was then a MASSIVE video file online.

As a result only a handful of people really made AMVs. Even fewer actually had the space to host a download. Making for a few infamous AMV making studios that EVERYBODY watched videos from. Aluminum Studios, Doki Doki and one other who's name escapes me right now, but I 'd know his videos if I saw them.

So discuss:

Anyone else remeber those first experiment golden days of AMVs?

Got one you'd like to share?

Even if you don't have any old ones to share, I'd love to see good new videos made with vintage anime. So share those too!

I used to love Aluminum's AMVs! I remember they were some of the first AMVs I ever saw. I'm sad he's not making them anymore. sad

I lifted this list out of a thread I posted elsewhere about sailor moon so theses are just links to the moon ones.

Unfortuantely the Youtube ones aren't terribly high quality, they're still awesome though!

Dreams of Red: Mars fan video set to Sting's Dessert Rose:

Blue Mercury: Mercury fan video set to Blue by Eiffel 65

Venus in a bottle: Venus Fan Video set to Genie in a bottle (not one of my favorites, but not bad)

He did one that's all the senshi as well:

Sailor Kombat: Set to the mortal Kombat movie theme

His old info pages about these and the other AMVs he made is here:

These are classics (as classic as an AMV can be) and well worth a peek.

Wow. This really brings back memories. . . I loved his videos, and still do. Honestly his videos were some of my first and led me to so many new anime (at the time) like Utena. Thank you Blue Monday video. . .

Oh yeah, and even though I haven't seen Eva, this video is still one of the best I have ever seen.
