xD Well, if it gets too descriptive, then it seems... gaudy. Like a flowery shirt and polka dot pants with a plaid tie. It's too much. So, something more like...

Tanu let his head fall unceremoniously against the bar counter, the resounding thump echoing through the room. Slowly, he raised his eyes first, and then his chin until he was glaring directly at the battery in his hand. Why, for the love of god, was it dead? His brow furrowed in confusion. Certainly, he had changed it just last week, unless-

"Confound it all," he suddenly grumbled. Denial had been playing with his CD player again. Of course the little bratling would have wasted the battery, hence the reason Tanu currently had no music to listen to. Growling dark words about younger brothers and their mischief, the tomcat leaned back on his stool and dropped the battery onto the counter.

Shorter than I'm posting now, but you get my gist. Give your character something to do. Playing with hair:

Oh, that was interesting. Mendel raised an eyebrow as she sighted a feather in one of her dark locks. Normally, things didn't get tangled in her hair; it was much too straight. With a sigh, she picked the down from her fringe and tossed it into the wind, watching it twirl away from her.

The bathtub, as Nena proposed:

Gods, she smelled like absolute s**t. Treachery loosened her hair, feeling the smooth tresses grace her bare shoulderblades. The dark locks warmed her back as she bent to retrieve the soap bottle from the edge of the tub. With her thumbnail, she popped open the cap and inhaled softly, allowing herself a moment of mental peace as she smelled the mango-and-banana scent from within. Then, the taste of blood was in her mouth, and her bliss was lost.

She contemplated the rim of the bottle for a long moment, then proceeded to pour a thin stream of the clear soap into the bathwater. The bliss was back, and she felt clean before she even stepped into the water.

So, your idea did have potential, Nena, but all five senses in one post seems like too much. OR, if you want to include all five senses, don't post each sentence right after the other. Add thoughts, movements, and other character-related things in. Like:

Before he even stepped into the kitchen, he could smell the oranges. Ry crept across the tiled floor, his face barely level with the counters. A constant reminder, his height was, of why his mother always told him not to enter the kitchen without her. But he was hungry.

His little toes curled against the coolness of the tiled floor. He was staring at the bowl of oranges on the kitchen table. All it would take was one hop, and he'd have one. With small grunt, he pulled himself up onto a chair, heard the screech the wood made against the floor, and inwardly winced. Surely, Mother would find him now.

Silence. When no one came to spank him, Ry smiled gleefully and snatched up an orange from the bowl to tuck into his pocket. Seconds later, he was sitting in his room with the peeled fruit, breaking off sections and pushing them between his rosy lips. The pockets of fruit burst on his tongue, showering them with sweet juice and crisp flesh. A contented giggle left his sticky lips.

So you discreetly hide the little senses in there while telling a story.
