It is not a recent fact that some viruses can lie dormant within the human genome for the entirety of a humans life without ever becoming full active. Furthermore, some sequences of the human intron have the ability to excise themselves shortly after being replicated and then insert further downstream on the DNA strand in order to be replicated once more. Resulting in an overabundance of random repeats. Repeats so unbelievably numerous in the genetic code, they greatly out number the actual coding sequences. Genetists have believed for sometime that these sequences may be the remnant of prehistoric retroviruses that have lost the ability to undergo cell lysis. Yet, what if this ability was never truly lost? What if all the information these sequences needed for lysis was still there, but in a form humans failed to recognize? And, what if those sequences were triggered my the declining state of the current environment to once again activate? Unless, a counterattack was mounted quickly humanity would indubitably be destroyed Would they be heralded the saviors of Mother Earth or the destroyers of civilizations? What is certain is that another wave of evolution is overdue. But perhaps, the only way for such evolution to occur is for us to be destroyed.
