Renvyle moved through the foliage with ease, his dark coat helping to hide him in the shadows, yet the green marks seemed vibrant, regardless of where he was or how dark his surroundings were. His paws made little sound as he followed the trail he had memorized over many, many days with the Order. Though he was but a Lieutenant, he took his work on patrol quite seriously. He had taken the time to remember the entrance locations and to recognize the poisonous and barbed plants that protected the length of the territory. This day he was outside of that great, protective border, taking in the sights and smells that alerted to prey and possible enemies. His tail flagged behind him like a dark, green splotched banner and he held himself proudly, though were he to run into any of rank higher than he, he would respond with the expected polite submission.
It was quite a fine day, warm, too. Insects were beginning to emerge, bees hummed around the budding flowers.
The tall, thickly built, young male was quite content with life. For the first time since the death of the pup and the loss of his pack, he felt he had a purpose. War was a terrible thing, but a knight was lost without someone or something to love and protect.
