Yun giggled again at Corwin, knowing he wasn't upset or hurt or anything, "Well, this is supposed to be a spar. Even though we aren't trying to hurt eachother, we gotta make sure the other can tell they've been hit. 'Sides, how else could we tell who's won?"
She saw an expression of regret flicker across his face almost to swiftly to be seen. If she hadn't been paying attention, She'd have missed it.
She watched as he lunged foward with both hands raised and was able to dance just out of his reach. As he continued forward, carried on by the momentum of his lunge, Yun stuck her foot out to try and trip him.

"I suppose so! Fun, either way! I wouldn't mind losing to you, but I'll give it my all anyway," Corwin grinned and hopped over Yun's foot, making a face at her. It was all a show; if he hadn't happened to look down at the last second, he would have been face first in the dirt right then. Ah, such was the life of a kind of awkward Twilif.
Corwin used the momentum of his leap to fall at Yun, both his cold hand and warm hand raised for a grapple. He admired that Yun was learning to fight in close combat, and she could already fight from far away; Corwin didn't have that ability. He couldn't throw fireballs, or make it hail; he was just Corwin. Little, cold and hot. But still, he gave the grapple his all, just like he had promised, knowing that the practice would make them both stronger.

This was fun.Yun couldn't help but think. Yes this was about battle and honing skills, but it was done in such a way to prevent serious injury and be more like a game. And slowly she was starting to feel more comfortable with her body and more confident in her ability to attack in close quarters. She wasn't as clumsy and awkward as she'd always believed.
But she found it curious. She'd noted that Corwin was very capable with grappling, but why didn't he try to attack using his powers long range. She dropped her attacking stance and turned to face him, hands held up in a motion of time out.
"I just had a thought." She began kinda quietly, her manner becoming somewhat serious. "Why don't you use your abilities long range? I know you c'n use them when grappling," she rubbed her shoulder somewhat ruefully, " but can't you control them well enough to just I 'unno, maybe raise the temperature 'round yerself an' use it as a shield or focus the energy inno a blast or sumthin'?"
She gave him a moment to think about her words, then dropped her hands and immediately resumed her attack stance. Not knowing exactly what she wanted to do, she called the wind and focused it around her fists and lunged.

Yun surprised him, and as he contemplated how to explain his powers, he took a pretty solid hit to the chest. "Ow!" He laughed, rubbing the spot where she hit, darting backwards after. "That was a pretty good skill," he added afterwards, bouncing from foot to foot.
"I'm not strong enough," he finally said. "I carry these things inside me, and in my current state, I just don't have the power to make them leave me. I can heat or chill the air, that's easy... you and I would make a formidable team," Corwin grinned. They really would. Yun-Sui's power with air would mean that he could send his powers anywhere she wanted; freezing or scalding. On his own, though, he just couldn't make projectiles or shields. "That's why I have to fight so close," Corwin said, and darted in again. He focused the air around him into a stifling hot bubble, making it hard to breathe.

The air warmed around them, starting off feeling good but swiftly growing to much for the cold-blooded twilif. She darted away from the heat and considered.
What he said was interesting, intriguing, opening up a wide range of possibilties in her mind. While Yun hated the thought of fighting and hurting others, in the context of now, where it was little more than a game it was alright. There wasn't any harm done.
But the thought of fighting someone else, and for keeps, distressed her. But then it brought up images of them together. Her wind used to send attacks whichever way she directed... the prospect was quite tempting. And besides. If it could be used in a battle situation, it could also be used for other purposes.
Thoughts of performing dancing flames or ice for entertainment passed through her mind. But she quickly reigned in her thoughts and emotions. Even though this spar was for little more than fun, she couldn't be distracted like that. She didn't intend to lose.
"That all sounds interesting... Perhaps a discussion after I wipe the ground with ya is in order." She grinned to show she really didn't necessarily mean what she said about wiping the ground with him (not that she wouldn't try), but she was serious about the second part of her statement.
She darted back within his space, sweeping her tail at him.

Corwin laughed, startled. It certainly hadn't been his goal to distract her! It was just a friendly spar. He shook his head, smiling, and then got hit with her tail again. That darned tail! It stung. He lunged at it, about to chomp down, out of sheer frustration and without really thinking. If he DID manage, it would hardly be a forceful bite. Just a sort of irritated snap. How could he catch a tail though?

Yun laughed. That was definately the most novel attack she'd had used against her, but she considered, and saw how it could be useful, not that she'd any desire to try it herself, unless there was no other option. Who knew where their opponent had been, or when they'd last bathed?
She was glad that the attack had missed, not just because she was still trying to win, but because she was sure she just couldn't taste good.
She waited a split second so Corwin was just steady enough before she launched a jumping kick, aiming at his head.

Corwin's head rang, and his vision was covered in bright spots. "Ow," was all he could say, and then he laughed. "Owww...That smarts!" Corwin concentrated with what brain matter he had, and instead of grappling... he actually tried to send a thread of heat out to singe Yun-Sui. Would he be able to this time? He'd never pushed his own heat across a distance. Perhaps if he practiced, he would improve.
