Has anyone else seen comedian Arj Barker's rap-parody "Sickest Buddhist"?
Here it is anyway (Warning: swears)
I personally found this hilarious, and I think it's a clever observation about the way some Westerners seem to look at Eastern philosophy as a fashion statement, rather than taking it seriously.
Personally, one of the reasons I don't 'advertise' the fact that I'm Buddhist is because there's that "pot-smoking, sitar-playing, college-student poseur" stereotype, and I don't want to be associated with it. Also, I wouldn't want to influence anyone else to
become one of those people.
Anyway, what does everyone else think? Do you ever deal with people who act this way, or who seem to think of Buddhists this way?
