It had come as a bit of a surprise when Quint was watching television and saw a commercial for a place called 'Water Land Aquariums' stared over at his Guardian and said, "We're going."
Kale was a bit amazed at the fact that the boy said 'we' and not just 'I'. It pleased him so much he nodded dumbly and jumped up and began to get ready to go before the boy could change his mind and soon they were out the door and at the location that was advertised upon the blinking television screen. They gazed from display to display sometimes Quint wandered off a little ways away from Kale but otherwise they were pretty much together and talking quietly to each other about various things that had gone on in the week when Quint wandered off on his own.
Currently they stood at a section that showed off various tropical fish as they swam about in harmony and contentment. Quint stared at it with a neutral expression while Kale looked a little more excited and interested, "Aren't they neat, Quinn?"
"I guess," the boy replied in a disinterested tone. It would have been more interesting if they had set up a more 'natural' surrounding where survival of the fittest could take place...

Everyone at the Avery household was well and truly tired of the rain. And the reason wasn't that there was a cold weather front moving in or any other scientific jargon that could be explained. No, this rain was souly down to one small girl. Since discovering the power to change the weather around her it had seemed to be getting stronger daily but she still lacked almost all control over it. And now the people of the house were getting tired of the rain that had been attacking the house all week while Ira was on a business trip.
William had been left in charge of the girl of course but he was hardly a substitute for Ira who was reflected as a god in the girls eyes. Although the staff would be damned if they could tell you why she loved the cold man so much.
However that morning he was due back and had promised to take his adopted daughter somewhere special to celebrate.
As the car pulled up into the driveway at last the sun broke through the cloud, and as Ira got out the rain slowed to a mere drizzle as Kailani bounded down from her perch at the window and raced out to meet him.
After that it was simply a matter of carrying in the luggage and resting long enough for a much needed cup of coffee before the girl demanded it was time to go.
Of course excitement was running high as the couple walked into the aquarium. "Ohhhh, look at all the colours!" Kailani exclaimed as she bounded forward to press her nose against the glass. Peering in before darting to the opposite wall to look into the next tank. Really Ira just had to follow.

It was one of those moments where Quinn noticed others outside of himself, not that he was selfish or felt the world resolved around him but it made it easier for him to be out and about when he just focused on himself. He was about to move on when he heard the rather exuberant child and his turned his pupil-less gaze toward her and just stared with a straight face, "Yeah I guess they're colorful enough," he replied to her though she didn't speak to him at all. He tucked his hands into his hoodie while his Guardian gazed at him in surprise.
Not that Kale was displeased that Quinn reached out and talked to someone but just really surprised.
"Though they don't do a good job of setting up a natural 'order' in these tanks. They just let the fish live peacefully and only allow them to worry about the next meal time rather than when the next predator comes," Quinn shrugged as he turned to the tank to prove a point and tapped at the glass and soon a flurry of fish were there to investigate without fear. The toothsome boy seemed displeased by that.
