I was wondering what clothing choices & accessories could be used to make a masquerade costume with a steampunk feel to it. I'm making costumes for both a guy and a girl. I'm at a loss here, any help or suggestions?

Feathers are awesome, and can be very steampunk. Also lace, any old looking lace. Feathers are great, because they are unisex....but lace is a little more feminine.

nobody said that steampunk *has* to be 19th Century. look to photos under "venetian masquerade" and lots of french revolution era fashion articals on wikipedia. Think Madame de Pompadour and Louis XV and The Palace of Versailles. Just add brass, gears and goggles.
