Description: A tall woman, with a 'handsome' rather than pretty face because of the strong, but not unatractive shape of her nose and strong, full liped mouth. ((Full. not saline injected fish lips like the twit who plays Tomb Raider in the movies.)) Her hair is thick and black, slightly wavy, and often worn loose most of the time, in spite of curses, threats, and mutterings about cutting it short when it gets in her way.
Personality: Cassiel considers herself the equal of any male beastcrafter, but at the same time, isn't amoung the women who consider men to be inferior, or beneath her, but a measuring stick for her own skills, particularly since men, biologicly, tend to be stronger, she seeks to overcome in other ways, and prove herself to be what she's confident she is. Too old to consider impressing a dragon, she's pleased with her lot and enjoys working with animals, runner beasts and dogs especially.
History: Cassiel didn't grow up knowing her father, who could have been any profession, as her Mother chose not to talk about him. Her mothers memories seemed to be fond ones, though it seems clear the relationship did not last long...
Growing up around the animals her mother raised and bred, Cassiel grew up with a great affection for animals, although the bond between herself and the dogs and riderbeasts would never be as notable as that between Rider and Dragon, she never the less considers it nothing to be scoffed at. She's equally facinated by dragons, and wants to learn something of the great beasts, not in the hope of becoming a rider, but more in the hope of seeking something that might help her improve the less intelegent beasts of Pern, though she's not truly certain what it is, if anything, she could gain from the study, she beleives no harm can come of it, and trying to find a place at a Weyr could certainly do no harm to her, or so she beleives.
She's trained her dog, Kuro, to respond to whistles as well as verbal commands, and her Riderbeast as well, using both skills to help her herding the animals if need be.
Special: (talents outside of craft, anything unusual) Cassiel is an sharp hand and a sharper eye with a thrown stone or a sling, perhaps better at this than she is with the whip that she tries to avoid employing in working with the Riderbeasts. She uses the stones also, only to descourage rogue felines or other moderately sized attackers from attacking herself or her beasts, and also for a little relaxation, testing her targeting skills on things that won't be hurt.
