just thought i would make a thread where some of us can share little tips for weight loss and some beauty secrets just in time for the warm weather.

here is what ive been doing

when i get home i put on 5lbs leg weights and do all my daily things but wih the weights on

i eat alot of veggies and puffs for snacks

and i mostly drink water now. no more milk or soda for me. my skin has gotten alot better since doing this too. i still get bad acne around my period even though im not a teenager anymore and cutting alot of the dairy out of my diet really helped my face clear up. this has been my biggest change. i used to drink milk all the time, it was the only thing i drank si this was the hardest thing for me to do since for a while my body kept on begging for milk

ive also been taking flaxseed oil for my hair and its amazing! my hair feels so much softer and shinier.

Its not really a tip..But..I fail to use conditioner when I wash my hair. It makes it shinier. If I use conditioner my hair gets oily really quick. D:

Also rinsing your face with clean water every morning helps acne. No soap or anything.

My face does a lot better acne-wise (especially with things period-related, where the acne tends to be far below the skin and impossible to otherwise treat) if I put Noxema on just before showering. I get my face a little wet, pat it drier, then put the Noxema on. Since it gets rinsed off right after, it doesn't dry out my skin like using it before showering used to, and I think it definitely makes a difference.

Birth control pills are the only thing that clear up my skin. I hardly ever use cleansers on my face, just water. Everything else makes me break out.

But my hair I condition EVERY time I wash, even if I don't use shampoo. My hair type is probably the opposite of the other poster, it's thick and coarse and color treated and gets dry and bushy if I don't condition and use a leave in like Frizeeze or Bio Silk.

I don't believe in diets so much. Diets are usually temporary. I'm more for, if ur not happy with ur weight, than you need a permanent lifestyle change.

In high school I was 160lbs because I started working, had no time for swim team anymore, got lifts to school, ate fries every day. After graduation I biked to work every day and biked to subway for lunch. I'm 130lbs now. And I can say that I really enjoy the healthy food now. Maybe I just aquired a taste for it. I RARELY drink soda and I've cut out a lot of dairy an I cut down my meat intake. Replaced it with grains, soy milk, nuts, and more veggies.

I use whole foods for hair and body. I make my own shampoo and occasionally use things like eggs or honey for conditioner.

Guh. I think I'm one of the only people I know who can't stand Subway. D= I tend to want their subs about once a week in late fall, have them about four times, then can't even stand to watch ads showing their subs for the next year.

Exercise is actually a big problem for me. Though I'm "average" weight-wise, I know I'm out of shape. I'm trying to do a few exercises while I walk around and do chores now, but that's like the only time I have. I have a 40-or-so minute commute to and from work each day, then usually come home and make dinner for my brother and myself and help care for all the animals. My only free time seems to be about the two hours before I go to bed on weekdays. sweatdrop

I think diet-wise, I'm fairly decent. I eat a lot of frozen meals at work, which I know can be a bit bad sodium-wise, but I watch which ones I buy to minimize that and fat content. I haven't eaten red meat or pork for years now. The only actual meats I eat lately are poultry, fish, and maybe shrimp once in a while. I like snacking a lot, so I have anything questionable health-wise in small increments. Thanks to my mom, I've also had enough exposure to whole grain/organic food that some cheaper manufactured stuff, I can't even handle anymore. We had these free sandwiches at lunch last Monday, so I had a turkey/tomato/Swiss cheese/kaiser roll one, like I've had before, and a little brownie bite, which I've had before. Long story short, I got practically shaky from the meal and had to get an apple from the grocery store to calm my system down. o.o

Ah, and I used to have almost a can of soda every workday to wake up, and then I got another one of my stomach ulcers and had to get off it fro 6 weeks... now I'm back to practically never drinking it and am quite happy with that.

Lol! It is! Mine is cut short and thinned out. Its naturally flat as a board. Any conditioner can make my hair oily just overnight and its gross. D: I shampoo twice and move on with my life. Every once in a while I may use a 2-in-1.

Exercise wise the best advice I can give is find an activity you like. If exercise feels like a chore you need to find something you really enjoy. For me it was biking and swimming. Especially swim team because when people are cheering you on and pushing you push harder and when people depend on you you're less likely to quit.

Exercise is always a chore for me with very few exceptions. I've got exercise-induced asthma and have struggled to breathe with basically everything I've ever tried. The only things I've ever enjoyed despite my breathing trouble are horseback riding and volleyball. There are no volleyball teams around here, and I can't afford horseback riding. They're $40 a lesson, and we just bumped out horse boarding from about $200 a month to $450 a month because our last barn wasn't giving him the care he needed (he's also not ridable).

Like I said, I'm trying to do a bit while I'm up doing chores weekdays. It's otherwise something that's just never been great for me. I'm not a naturally active person. I like caring for my animals and writing and drawing and painting....

ive gotten a bit overweight since i no longer have a job that keeps me on my feed. im 150 right now xp i hate my weight because the fiance is only 120 and tall, he is so thin because he hates food while i adore trying new things all the time. i am changing my lifestyle aswell as dieting, i look forward to being able to snack a little more but i plan on continuing my meals with less meat and raw veggies.

and because of bear ive been taking alot of long walks. the last few have been so long that she started pulling me back towards to house because was too tired XD we have been doing 3-5 mile walks nearly each day this week. if she wasnt so old and starting to get hip problems (gotta love backyard breeding for shepherds) we would probably go longer

as for hair i also put eggs in mine. once a month i mix some eggs and put it in with the conditioner. normal conditioner i use everyday. i hate the slightest bit of oil in my hair so i wash everyday.

the eating better part is really hard because my dad does all the shopping and he never buys fruit. we always have candy and junk around the house and my dad always warms up frozen processed meat for dinner and gets mad when i try to have something else. i think once the fiance and i move in together and we cant affod junk ill be able to lose alot of weight XD also by then the plan is ill be the one making the meals for us so ill get to eat healthy all the time

Eh. The problem with that is that processed, bad for you foods are often cheaper. I think that's one of the reasons why overweight/obesity problems seem so high with people below the poverty line... they have to buy what they can and can't pick the best stuff for the sake of it being better. D=

.... Omigosh, it's just like pet food! The cheaper, worse for your stuff is easier to get! It's an epidemic!

I'm actually around 150-155, with my ideal weight about 145, I think. I start looking sickly below that. Egg in my hair sounds icky. gonk But this is coming from someone who can't stand any products except the same-old shampoo in it. However, I do let my hair air dry. That helps prevent it getting frazzled/dried out with a hair blow drier. I think it makes quite a bit of difference, but I think I'm lucky that I have naturally straight hair. I know some people would be stuck with a mess.

Ooh, and while we're on beauty product stuff... does anyone have any organic and/or cruelty-free makeup brands they can recommend? There's some sort of list from http://www.choosecrueltyfree.org.au/ listing a few that are against testing on animals, but it'd be great if someone else had experience with one of those companies to recommend them.
