Pazzult didn't get the result he had hoped for but no matter. She was right about one thing, the sooner they got the work done, the sooner he could be gone. Taking back his shovel, he moved to the next stall to muck it out and go on with the cleaning. "I suppose. So how did you end up here anyways?"

"Was Searched," she replied easily, moving a shovelful of dung to the nearby barrow. "On accident, really. My family's train was stopped at a hold for a few days. If we hadn't been at that hold right then, I wouldn't be here." She had come to learn by now that her Search case wasn't exactly typical. In fact, she had yet to meet another trader, and assumed that if there were any others, it was likely that they were in one of the Weyrs on the Northern Continent. Traders in these parts weren't nearly as common, since that also meant they had to know how to sail.
"How about you? What where you in your pre-Weyr life?"

"Seems like you were at the right place at the right time." Pazzult replied. Mucking was surely no fun and he had moved to his last stall. Then it was to the spring to draw up buckets of water to rinse everything off. How could runner make so much mess in so little time?
Yuck.
Wrinkling his nose, he drooped a big shovelful of whatever into the barrel. He was going to need a bath after this. Maybe two or three to feel clean again. "I am a tailor. You could say I was Searched on accident as well. I was in my parents' shop when a dragon rider came in to order Gather clothes. S'mun and Degth. And just like that I was Searched."

"My parents would say otherwise," she responded, finishing her stall with one final shovel dump. She leaned the shovel against the wall and stretched. "They weren't too pleased, us being traders and all. They don't like dragons much."
She listened intently, then nodded, "Hah, well that's convenient. Glad to be here now, instead of that?" Rhilira didn't doubt that he still liked his Craft - she still would go back to being a trader - but there was something about Weyrs that made it worthwhile to shake those feelings.

Pazz shrugged and continued with his last little bit of shoveling. He had thought about it and others had talked about it long into the night in the Barracks. Taking a minute to breathe, though not too deeply, he replied as honestly as he could. "I think I wouldn't know the difference except it got dumped on me. All I knew was my craft and home 'cept when I went to Boll for 3 turns to get my apprenticeship. So I will agree. I am glad to be here, in the Now. And I will worry about the rest of it later."
That was the best answer he was going to be able to give. Nodding, he grabbed an empty bucket and tried to remember, ah yes. The spring was just outside the stables towards the left. "Just gotta rinse everything out and put the new straw down. You can take your Runner out. When he comes back, everything will be fresh."

"That's fair," she said simply, stepping up beside Epaulet and patting his side affectionately "Thanks for cleaning out the pens," she said, leading him from his pen. Just as she was about to go out the door with him, she turned and smirked. "Be sure to take a bath. You smell like runner dung~" With that, she was up on her saddle and out the door.
