my mom made vegetarian meatballs a few weeks ago, and it was my first time too! i think we missed out on awesome stuff for a few years. : O

You're half Italian! You don't count! xd Actually now that I think about it, you have some seriously awesome food heritage going on there. Italian AND I'm guessing it's sort of Chinese food from Taiwan(?)...
There's some Taiwanese food that is so alien to the western palate that it sits firmly on the side of disgusting, but some of it is delicious too. I did indeed luck out foodwise.

my mom makes these excellent little meatballs with grape jelly and hot chili sauce in them.
we put them out at parties, you know, with toothpicks in them.
