Rating: PG-13 or so. Violence.
Criticize if you want, I did this one just for fun, not taking it seriously, so whatever. It could probably be much better if I was trying, I just typed whatever came to mind in about ten minutes, typing as I thought.
(I think a bit of background info is necessary here. This is from a roleplay I'm in. My character is (lol) a Space Pirate stranded on Earth. He just bought a slave named Star, and is being quite cruel toward her. She is a neko and shapeshifter, and she wears a collar that prevents her from changing forms. He has just taken the collar off, but threatens that if she runs away he'll track her down and break her legs and force the collar on her again. I thought it made an alright short story, so I decided to post it. A few more things:
Obviously, being a Space Pirate gets you in trouble with the law, and he was stranded on Earth while running from them, adn they still chase after him. He has the power to steal the light from stars and use it as energy to fly around (which takes lots of power) make light or make extreme heat, sometimes enough to cause fires. I think that's about it... sorry, I probably left as much background info as I did a story ^^; )
-------He realized he might be being a bit excessive, threatening her if she escaped, but he couldn't trust her. He never trusted shape shifters, though if it weren't from experience being hurt by one, he still wouldn't trust her. She was a slave, and all that mattered to her was her freedom.
-------He didn't trust anyone, especially not slaves and, amongst them, especially not shape shifters. His first slave... he had treated her coldly. She was an ordinary human. She was the one who had tried to poison and kill him with a knife. Almost understandable, since he wasn't exactly the kindest of people toward her. But he treated her fairly enough, he fed her, gave her water, and wasn't exactly unkind. Still, when the opportunity came, she had tried to kill him. She had put so much poison in the food that, though invisible to sight when mixed with food and completely odorless, it had a strong flavor. One bite of that food would have killed a human in minutes, and he had eaten the whole meal with no effect. He realized it was poisoned, but knew it would have no effect and ate it to prove a point, that poison did not affect him, and that trying to kill him was foolish. Still, she tried to stab him, so he killed her because he knew he couldn't trust her. He simply bound her and burnt the whole cabin to ash, making it seem accidental. Not that he cared what they thought, but the Space Militia might catch on.
-------His second slave had been Nyra. She had been a neko and a shape shifter, just like Star, his new slave. He had treated Nyra well, and she was kind and didn't seem bothered being bought, she was simply happy to be out of the slave prison. He was kind and generous toward her, treated her as an equal rather than a slave or servant, and thought of her as a friend. She had been the first and only friend he had had on this new planet. And yet... all along she had been planning it. He finally trusted her enough to take off her binding collar, the same kind Star had had. She had faked their friendship, pretended to care about him. 'As if I could care of someone who bought me, fool! Anyone who buys a slave is just like the rest, cruel and cold at heart no matter how hard they hide it.' Then, she had attacked him, and while he was stunned, she became a tiger and ripped gashes into his torso. He mourned knowing he couldn't let her live either. He had killed her, too. Unable to bind her because of her powers, he incapacitated her and finished her.
-------From all of this, he had learned something about these lesser beings, Earthlings, especially about slaves. You could never treat them kindly, because they would never respect or care about you. Fear was the only way to rule over them. He had, at first, merely wanted someone who could teach him about this planet, someone to guide him. The second time, he had wanted someone to treat him with kindness, someone he could confide in, a companion, a friend. He no longer cared about any of this. He needed a servant, someone who feared him and did what he said. Someone to cook or clean, someone to sort his money, keep track of his finances, someone to do menial tasks. He learned any other kind of slave was simply a waste, because if you treat anybody on this planet with kindness, they would run over you.
