The flurry of birds rose from the treetops as they fills the air, fleeing from the unknown source of really loud discordant singing with loud squawking, trying to cover the ugly song up. A small chocolate looking female kit could be found under the flurry of birds, chasing them on the ground since she still haven't learned how to fly... yet (and the birds are very GRATEFUL for that) but the kit alternates between bouncing and 'dancing' from one set of legs to other sideways while singing at top of her lungs. "Come back, birdies!! I wanna to sing to you more! Sing with me!" She tries to mimic the bird squawking, thinking it will lure them back.

Java Diva pouts as she watches the birds disappearing into the distance but she quickly got over it when she hears rustling nearby and she extends her white wings out, taking off running toward the new source of the sound hoping that this new creature will be willing to sit and listen to her sing or play with her. Bouncing on her toes, Java approaches the bush so she could be a little sneaky ninja and pounce on the creature so she wriggles between the sticks carefully, peering through small gap. The female's eyes widens as she stares at the horrifying scene in front of her and she unwittingly made a twig snap, the huge predator suddenly jerked its head up with blood dripping down its muzzle then fled.

"...." The kit stared at the half eaten carcass with mixture of open horror and fascination. "New toy!" She cries happily as she sprang out of her 'hiding place' and bounces toward the carcass, not understanding that its dead and won't be able to play with her. "Wanna hear me sing?!" She exclaims before she began to sing that discordant song all over again without waiting to see if the carcass would want to hear.

User ImageDeath was everywhere around the odd-winged female. She could smell it on the air, the wind, in the rain. Things died every day; plants, animals, humans, B'alam. Yes, death was a part of life, as corny as that sounded. Purple eyes focused on the dead thing, the half-eaten carcass before her. She'd watched it being eaten, processed that away, watched as it festered and started stinking. Death didn't hate the stench. She found herself drawn to it, oddly enough.

Adjusting her wings with a few flaps, those purple eyes looked to the sky as the birds took off. Of course they would; there was a horrible singer amongst them that didn't even sound like a bird. Her ears, and tail, flicked before going back to the carcass. It was a beautiful thing, decay. A natural process by which everything followed, big or small. The fester blistered burst in the sun that it was in, causing puss and more blood to ooze to the ground below, which only made her smile a bit more.

But then, oh then, she heard the voice of another female heading toward her carcass. Coming into view was a feather winged female kit with a smile on her face. Singing? So she was the cause of the chaos of the birds. Interesting. She got up from where she was crouched and shook off her red pelt, eying the other female.

"Can't you see? It's dead. It's in the wonderful process of decomposing; going back to the earth through means of dissolving, of sorts. Soon, it'll be nothing but a pile of bones. And years from now, if the bones haven't been moved, they'll be here as a pile of ashes to blow away in the wind. And here, in this spot, will be new grass and flowers, an ant hill, no doubt." She looked to the ants that were already in the body, and the flies, and the little carnivorous mice that fled from her talking. "It doesn't care if you sing. I can not sing back. But I care. I think you should try a song with words instead of mimicking birds. While they sound pretty, you'll never be able to squawk like them. You haven't the right vocal equipment. Maybe you could whistle and try it. But you are just scaring them away and causing me to miss this glorious break down process. I've been here since it died."

Java Diva blinks at the female whom were there before her and a huge grin breaks out on her face while her tail swishes in the air excitedly, thinking she is going to gain another friend. But that smile fades just little bit when the weird female began to talk about the death and boldly criticized her singing but the smile immediately returned while she does a little dance around the carcass and the new female. "Dead? But we still can play with it! And that way, it can't complain about my singing." She giggles as she peers at carcass with open curiosity while her white wings twitches against her body.

"You like to watch things die and... " She scrunches her nose up as she tries to remember the word that other kit used. "de... decomp.. something." She shrugs her wings little bit as she moves around to the carcass' head and peers into its lifeless eyes. "What is it like to die?" She muses half to herself as she didn't realize that it actually is painful (and LOOKS like it) to die by the predator's maw and she pokes the carcass' muzzle with her paw then jerked back when the tongue flops out between the muzzle with surprise. "I thought it is dead!" she exclaims excitedly as she warbles (or tried to) to the carcass experimentally. Tilting her head to side, Java stares at the carcass when it didn't move or respond back to her and she pins her ears back against her head. "This creature is VERY rude to me!"

Finally remembering that the female is still there, Java gave her a huge sunny grin. "I am Java Diva but you can call me Java for short! or Jadi if you want to go with nicknames!" Her light purple eyes squints at the female, finally noticing that there is something different about her. "WOW!!!! You have one wing like mine and another like bat! That is SO neat!! can you use them both to fly?!" She literally invaded other kit's personal space, nosing and gawking at both wings with wide-eyed interest. "Wait.. so that means your mommy or daddy is a bat? ...." She crosses her eyes as she tries to think of HOW a b'alam could breed with a bat. "How would that work too? Same with birds since we have their wings too!"

Tentative song coming from small group of songbirds who was brave enough to come back began to flow into the clearance where two kits is standing around the carcass, and it was enough to send Java Diva into another bout of hyper fit. Her small body vibrates excitedly as she listens to the song before she attempts to join in with her discordant singing at top of her lungs. "La la la la la!!" Her voice cracked and she just kept on singing while she bounces around the kit. "sing with meeeee!!" She warbled at the kit happily, not aware that she is being REALLY annoying right now.

Annoying didn't begin to cover what Jadi was being. Death pinned her ears back and cringed at her chattering and warbling. She was a horrid bird singer. She should really, really try to stick to words that were coherent instead of dumb noises like birds. With a sigh, she closed her purple eyes and bared with it. That is, until her wings were touched with a cold, wet nose and she jerked back and hissed, swiping at the other girl. Way to close for comfort, to much talking and way to happy. She had no respect for the dead, either.

Taking several deep breaths to calm herself down, Death glared at Jadi and spoke again, her voice cold and low, quite serious.

"NEVER touch dead things. Do not try to play with them. One should not be annoyingly happy around them. I'm quite disappointed that your parents hadn't taught you better. You're being extremely rude and disrespectful to this creature that has given it's life so something else may live. Do you ever stop to think about what it is you eat? Birds, mice, deer. They are all living, breathing things, just like you. They are terrified when we kill them, yet we do so in order to survive. Can you not feel any remorse for this creature? This place is a grave. In fact, most places where you walk are graves."

She was somber by this point, clearly upset by the girl's playful actions. How could one's parents not teach them about respecting the dead? Taking a few more deep breaths, she smoothed her fur back onto place and fidgeted with her wings. "No, not a bat. My daddy is a Suzti, while mommy is a Yaxun. Get it now? I just got one wing from both of them. And yes, I can fly. I suppose you can't, yet."

She would take pity, on Jadi and finally introduced herself. "My name is Death. My father is Body Bag and my mother is Cealdia. I've several siblings, but my litter mate, and older sister, her name is Sin." She studied the girl a moment longer before actually moving around the corpse, leaving it be for now. She'd occupy this girl's time long enough to get her away, then she would come back. That was her plan, anyway. "And you are..." she had to pause to remember and then nodded, "Java Diva. I shall call you Jadi." She steered the girl down a path that would lead to a big waterfall area, but the water was steaming and warm, creating a fog in the chilly, winter air.

"This place, I come to often to sing. I know a few songs my father taught me, though they're in a language I do not understand. I feel they are of somber, grim things, sad things, from the way he sings them. So he said they would suit me best." Death wasn't one to smile to much, and she always looked grim. She jumped up on one of the large rocks at the edge of the water and looked to Jadi with a serious expression. Then she took a breath and let out a few, sad, low notes that would surprise anyone.

The tune she sang was a tale of a love that couldn't be, and never should have been. Though they wouldn't understand the words, the way she pitched and warbled was convincing enough to paint an extremely sad picture of two B'alam in love, then one died. A B'alam version of Romeo and Juliet.

When she was finished, Death looked to Jadi without expectations. Not everyone appreciated her kind of voice; rough and velvety at the same time despite her young age.

Jadi leapt back with bushy tail whiplashing behind her as she suddenly jumps backward when Death jerked back, hissed and swiped at her and she frowns at Death. "You are rude too! I just wanted to look at your wings!" She says with a huff and pouts at Death. The brown female looks at her with an indignant glare since she was getting glared at. Why is she being so grumpy? I am just having fun! Jadi thinks to herself as she stares at Death warily.

Rubbing her nose with her paw, Jadi could feel superficial slash marks on her nose and she is not happy about it but Death's voice froze her in the spot with her paw on her nose. "So you are saying that we all must be somber and respectful toward everybody who died?" Jadi inquires as she shakes her head while she suddenly starts prancing around the dead body. "My papa always tell me to rejoice about the dead one's time on the earth. Not mourn the passing." She nods sagely as she looks at Death. "And YOU are being rude and disrespectful by being all ...." She scrunches her nose up as she warbles, sending the birds flying into the air. "Oh..!" She blinks as she looks at Death directly in the eyes. "grumpy about it. We all die. Its part of the life." She actually looks lucid when she made those comments.

"Everywhere are graves. There is no escaping it." Jadi's eyes went hooded as she looks down at the dead animal thoughtfully. "I can hear the dead.. I can see them sometimes." She finally whispered, barely audible as she slowly looks up at the female with wide eyes. But that wide-eyed look went out of the window and perky smile slid into the place while Jadi bounces around Death humming loudly, processing all of the information in her head. Suzti and Yaxun... gotcha! "Well you look older than me. I am still a baby!" She sang in her high-pitched annoying voice while she spreads her wings out, fluttering them near Death's face. "They are beautiful, aren't they?" She purrs the words out.

It is quite obvious that Jadi is definitely not sane and will never be able to carry the conversation fully from beginning to the end. "Death?" Jadi's eyes bugged out as she stares at the female that calls herself Death. "Nu-huh!! You can't be Death! Death is all big, bone-y and covered with black thingy." She frowns at Death, wondering if she is joking but Death seems to be perfectly serious. "Body Bag... Sin.." She processes the information with her tongue sticking out of her mouth and one eye closed. "Okay! Jadi is my nickname anyway!" She exclaims as all of those interesting tibit of information is already pushed aside. She happily allows Death steer her toward the big waterfall area without any single thought of her safety, she just wanted to be with her new best friend!

"Oooh.. you sing too!" Jadi lips at the air and looks at Death curiously. "Why talk in the language you don't understand, Death?" She looks confused as she frowns at Death. "Somber, grim things shouldn't suit you, Death. What about rainbow?! It is SO pretty. Sometimes I get REALLY lucky and could see the rainbow appear in the sky.. just like this.. BOOM!" Her eyes went wide as she could visualize the rainbow but her eyes follows Death when she leapt up on the large rock. Jadi 's ears flutters as the low sad notes emits from Death's throat and her eyes began to well up with unshed tears.

"That's SO sad.." She struggles not to bawl about those poor b'alams! Jadi's small body shook as she looks at Death. "No more sad songs! Do you know any happy songs?" Her voice wobbles as she sniffles. "But I love your voice. You need to sing more.. maybe more happy songs!"

Happy songs? No, they weren't fitting for the morbid, odd-winged female. She let her purple eyes level out with the others' and she shook her head carefully. No; that wouldn't do. Being happy was a waste of energy, required to much effort. Death wasn't a lazy B'alam, just did not want to waste her precious energy. She lacked it most days, because she spent her nights trying to watch how decay really worked its wonders.

Stretching herself out on the rock, she continued to watch Jadi and gave herself a smirk. "No. I love sad songs. They make your heart hurt and let you know you're alive. Heartbreak is a wonderful thing to learn. It makes you stronger and eventually, one will realize they can live without a partner of the same or opposite gender."

She looked up to the sky and gave a little grin. It was a clear sky right here, so it was brighter than she was used to. Death lurked under bushes and fallen limbs, in old trucks looking at the skeletons of squirrels, chinchillas, monkeys, thinks like that. But what really fascinated her were the beaks of parrots. She liked to feel them against her paw. That's why her brother, Hazmat's, parrot stayed away from her. She swiped at it one to many times. That bird was so weird.
