So, I wanted to know how the recent American health care bill is affecting everyone.
I feel "Meh..." about it right now. I'm worried we might fall into a Depression, but also excited to see what positive may happen from all of this.
This brings me and my path closer together and my studies on my own remedies increase. I want to prepare my own medicine book for myself, just incase bad stuff happens.

Ma'am we are in a depression, don't let the idea of a 'Great Recession' fool you. It just that depression = Great Depression still. Anything could still topple us terribly, whether this passed or didn't. At least far as I'm concerned and know.
I haven't been paying much attention (me and polotics don't run well together) and while there could be better timing, new healthcare hasn't killed other countries...so we might as well have a little hope right?

I hate it. I've hated it since Obama started trying to pass it. There is so much bad in this bill. I've done a lot of reading on it. Its not going into effect until Obama gets reelected again.
The government will make sure you get it. If not, its a federal offense. It takes away our freedom of choice. If your over 26 you will have to pay for it. What people can't pay? Oh well, the government will issue you a fine, like you totally have money to pay that right?
I am sorry if this would offend anyone, but America is a not a socialist country. Just because other countries have health care, doesn't mean we need it. And I also hear there are a lot of flaws in nations that do have a government controlled health care.
So, im not voting for Obama when the time comes, and I'll have my friends not vote for him either, because they know I'm into politics so they come to me to know what's going on.
I'm want to vote for a libertarian, because that's the party me and my family support, but I feel like those are wasted votes :[

I wanna know just how many people you think don't have health insurance by choice. I would bet not a lot.
I'm gonna repeat it hasn't killed a country yet, so is it too much to find some optimism in this world?

I havent entirely looked over the whole bill, but from what I gathered from it...its gonna be a whole mess better than what myself and many I know have now. So many of us are in crappy jobs that, if they do offer health insurance, the coverage is mediocre and a huge chunk comes out of our pay to cover the costs. For the most part, myself, my boyfriend, a few of my friends and even family members haven't been under health insurance for a loooong time. Going thorough other companies isnt an option either, as we need all the money we can get these days.
Ya hear a lot of the "Well you're gonna get fined if you dont pay" stuff getting thrown around, but they've stated that exceptions are gonna be made for the people that cant afford whatever the costs are. Basically, if you or your family is above the poverty line by a certain percent (quite a lot actually, 133-400%), you're gonna have to pay. Heck, Ive heard its gonna be cheaper even than standard insurance...but thats heresay. If anything, I try looking at the positive aspects of it, like how its an attempt to reduce this massive deficit, and how illegal immigrants are not included on it (sorry, while I'm all for em comin over, I'd rather they attain citizenship if they wanna stay for a while). There are also a few groups that will benefit from it who might not have been able to get affordable private insurance to begin with, such as folks with certain disabilities.
I dunno, I can see it working, and I can see it as a good thing, but as with anything our government tries to do, there is a certain degree of failure to consider. This certainly isnt the only solution to our economic problem (honestly, this system was doomed as soon as industry swallowed agriculture...), but it might be a small step forward.
I guess when it all boils down, I'd rather be covered if I got into a car accident and had to go to the hospital, than chance it because private insurance cost too much. Either way, Byron and I are still gonna be broke lmao...

witchunterobin This brings me and my path closer together and my studies on my own remedies increase. I want to prepare my own medicine book for myself, just incase bad stuff happens. Check out your library or the net for old folk remedies! I recently checked out a book on old "country medicine" and its fascinating! Its like...1 part folk magick, 1 part superstition, and 1 part logical reasoning. The cures for tetanus alone sucked me in...some remedies, though, are totally worth considering (though shouldn't be a sole means of treatment mind you, but Im sure you already know/heard that 3nodding ).
