It had been quite a long time since Grinch had last seen Aidan. As a matter of fact, it had been when he'd last brought that infant. Grinch had sulked about home for awhile, then run off. Finding Aksel had been a healing balm, but the other lion was so weak, coming back was slow-going. Grinch had to hold on to what patience he had to help care for the other lion. It was worthwhile though, it kept his mind off of matters that would have otherwise made him doubt and grump and turn back.
They got to his high cave home, and then started on the journey to... to...Well, Grinch wasn't exactly sure where or how far it was that Aidan had relocated. He'd never visited before. But Aidan was...He was a good boy, and had left the path obvious with scent marks.
Grinch was a quiet lion, most of the time, and very observant. Along this way though, once on his journey along this path, he let out the occasional roar. He would rather Aidan and the little sprite, perhaps that unknown mate, meet up with him along the way than him and Aksel slip up on their territory. He didn't know how Aidan would respond to Grinch bringing him along.

Aidan had stayed in and around the den since he'd left His Father's home, his heart bothered by how the visit had ended. In that time he'd had the privledge of watching his daughter grow from an infant to a cub. While she still had times where it was as if she looked into your soul, they were few and far between. Otherwise she acted as any other her age. As he now lay outside with Aislin playing in the grass nearby, nearly blending in, his ears perked up when he heard a familiar roar. For a long moment he was in slight shock, but soon enough he let our a sort of welcoming roar, if there was such a thing, to let Grinch know it was safe to come on in.
When he saw Aksel though every muscle in his body clinched up, his paws moving to pull his daughter close in a protective manner.
Aksel had found a sort of healing and realization that day the Grinch had walked in on his silent misery. It took him longer than he would've liked to travel, and in that case had greatly slowed Grinch down on their journey. The injuries, both internal and external from his Pride's demise and his hunt for Aidan had taken a toll. He was certainly no spring chicken.

"Good afternoon, Aidan!" It would seem Grinch was in a far better mood, he was not good at hiding his feelings. Still, there was a tenseness there, an uncertainty as to how this meeting would come. "I hope you don't mind some old grouch coming to visit. I brought a....ah..." He looked at Aksel. What was he? During the trip, he had gotten to know the other lion, to hear his side of the story, and to answer the many questions he had. Grinch had grown an admiration for the other lion, one that began as a grudging sort, but had ended with wonder. What was he now? "friend. I have brought a friend with me."
He called Ilori a friend, but the status had not extended itself to Phoenix Shelley, not to Bowser or Fuego, lions that had spent long times with Grinch. Friend was not a word he used, just as he did not often call Aidan his, and only rarely had used any family words. But he could speak it truly, he thought, if it was a bit too swift for his tastes. He knew Aidan would understand the importance of the word choice.

Aidan's eyes widened when his Father used the word friend while referring to Aksel. That was very rare. If Aksel had earned that title from Grinch then...well...He could be nice at least. For his daughter too, though a strain grew in his chest. Eyes stormy he got up and padded over to greet them, giving Grinch a nuzzle under the chin and Aksel a friendly pat across his shoulders. What he felt though shocked him. Though the brown lion appeared strong he felt weak. But Aidan kept that to himself. "Hope you don't mind, it's just me and lil Aislin. Ozzie is off on an adventure again." He chuckled a bit at that, then padded over to his daughter, nuzzling the top of her head.
Aislin hadn't noticed the other lions until the brown one came into sight. Grinch blended in just as well as her Dad. But the moment she recognized her Grandpa she darted over, giggling happily. "Grampaw! I missed you lots and lots!" To show her happiness a purr started up in her until she sounded much like a motor. Then she saw the brown male better, catching his eyes. Slowly she padded closer, putting her paws on his sides to inspect the green markings. "You have green swirlies on your butt..."
Tension gripped Aksel's chest until he saw Aidan's greeting. Feeling the pat across his shoulders brought wetness to his redish brown eyes, though he hid them. "I don't mind at all..." The sight of a green blur caused him to take a step back in surprise, but noting the features and colored he relaxed, figuring her to be Aidan's little adopted one. It was very hard to tell...no...you couldn't tell she was adopted. She resembled the vine covered male so much. "Well hello there! You must be the famous Aislin I've heard so much about..." Aksel roared with laughter, gently patting her head. "Yes, I know I do. But they are on my back and legs too you know."
