sweatdrop I love Lane Bryant, but i've got to say something too.

You girls should KNOW not to trust models. those flips in the cateloge are just...not plus sized.

I trust the ones i see on displays in the store, or on the gift cheques they send( Im a frequent Buyer! biggrin ) Those models are ACTUALLY plus sized and yummy chickies.

but still...please dont rely on models unless its unavoidable. sweatdrop

Not personally, though. I think they're very beautiful--- even if they are obviously air-brushed and/or photo-manipulated models like the rest of them. ._.

Perhaps I just feel betrayed. I mean, they're considered plus-sized models, yet they're very pathetic excuses for the title "plus-sized". I mean, COME ON! It's very rare that the models they use are even over a women's size 18! They're always using girls that are around a size 12 to a size 16 at max. It bothers me... a lot. Because they're taking realistically-sized girls and calling them "plus-sized". How can I not be bothered?

Plus, I kind of feel like it violates the title. Sure, plus-sized clothing starts anywhere from a size 12-14 or there about, so a girl in those sizes would be considered "plus-sized". But when I think about "plus-sized", I think about a curvy larger woman, perhaps over a size 18 or 20 at the least. If you ask me, seeing a size 14 model be considered "plus-sized" isn't helping me with my self-esteem much at all. If they're considering a 14 as big, then they must be considering someone like me (at a size 24) a moster. =/

A pox on them.

[/opinionated rant]

I totally agree with you. I don't like Lane Bryant at all, not even thier clothes. Personally, when I was a size 22, I was looking at all the "plus-sized" models and i was all, WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!
But yeah. Now that I'm a size 20, I'm a little ok with it, but i still would like to tear out those adds from my mom's magazines.

i know what ya mean! me and a friend went into Lane Bryant to shop and we looked at some of the models in this catalouge that they had out and i turned to my friend and said.."wtf!? scream these arent plus sized models...these models wear clothing that is three sizes to small for me! dear God they are lying to us!!" so we didnt buy anything on that trip and we just left the store. i mean every once in awhile you will see a plus sized model, but thats about as rare as a blue moon...

Have you been sitting in my brain? I've had this same conversation/thought many MANY times.

THESE are NOT plus sized models.

THIS is a plus sized model.

I so loathe society sometimes. Putting a skinny woman in big clothes to make her look 'fat' does not equal a plus size model. *twitch*

That's disgusting.
Society is SO shallow and stupid.
That's NOT plus sized.
That honestly makes me want to puke.

I've always felt that Lane Bryant's models are a joke... Just like Fashion Bug's plus-sized section.

Torrid, however, has some wonderful models. All of their girls are big, no size 12's there! *salutes Torrid* I'd love that store more if it weren't so flarkin' expensive.

Sad isn't it? I think I've seen a few of those models in a Sears catalog somewhere.
