10/6 and Mercury

Time for Tea, Sit and wait.
Hear my friends and I conversate.
Everything and nothing all at once,
Meanwhile the frumious Bandersnatch hunts.
Alas my clock still has it's quirks.
Didn't I tell you the butter wouldn't go with the works?
Hare said you were late for tea.
Alice, have you forgotten me?
Tell us a story, Think up one quick.
Treacle wells and hideous ticks.
Everything's here, it's all the same.
Remember me, Alice? What is my name?

Please, tell me what you think!

Note, if you wish, that this poem is an acrostic. The first letters of each line spell out "The Mad Hatter." Whom I'm hoping you realized the poem was written from the point of. If not then that's not your fault. The poem is to be subtle, But straight forward, if you get my meaning. If you didn't get the underlying element, that is my fault.

overall its pretty good but its not very subtle who its supposed to be when you use the words Bandersnatch, Hare, and Alice. try not to mention anything that gives it away until the last line when he asks alice if she remembers him.

also, im not really sure what the title is supposed to mean. is it related to the poem at all?

The title "10/6 and mercury" is Directly related to the mad hatter.

10/6" comes from his hat, which the outer label displays these numbers. Now, most people thin this is the size of the hat, but in fact is the price. Back in old English times, you see, thew used fractions instead of decimals. The "10/6" translating to "ten shillings and 6 pence"

Mercury is in referance to him because it is thought to be the reason the Hatter went mad. You see, Back, again, in olden england, Hatters used Mercury to cure pelts for hats. This would explain the Orange hair and eyes and fingernails. Though, in years after the book was written people started thinking that it was based off a wacky furniture salesman Lewis knew when he was alive.
