Aludra didn't take long to notice that his teacher was starting to take this a little bit too seriously. By a little bit, he meant a lot. Silently, his frustrations grew. He was supposed to win this fight - this practice fight - for the sake of being able to win a sword! It wasn't supposed to get so real, so serious! He was just a teenager; he didn't have the talent or practice that this woman had, he would never beat her if she was honestly trying. It just wasn't possible!!
He struggled with her movements, green eyes rapidly following movements that the normal eye couldn't keep up with. Awkwardly, he stumbled backwards, too much focus in his sight causing his feet to chill. No longer heated, he stepped onto the same place he'd been standing, the wetness of the melted ice causing him to slip backward. As he fell, the other's wooden sword came down, right where he'd been standing, a pained noise breaking from his throat when he slammed against the ground.
Terrified still of the competetive streak his teacher was showing, too winded to be able to speak yet, he scrambled backward. His lungs grabbed for air, one hand clutching at his pained chest as he waved his hand -sword dropped to the ground- and cried out pitifully, no force behind his words. "Stop...! Stop!"

Ary's sword stopped almost instantly, breaking out of a trance seemingly. Blinking slowly a couple times, her gaze was cast about the room before finally falling on Aludra's quivering form. "Oh... I-ah... Sorry. It's been a while since I've actually fought with someone with any skill whatsoever. Got a bit lost in reality," she muttered, looking almost embarrassed. As she spoke, the room even seemed to warm up a bit, the ice quickly vanishing from sight as if sucked up by an invisible vacuum.
"You alright Aludra?" Ary asked, once again mentally kicking herself for letting her instincts go like that. Why did she have to go overboard every time anyways? It wasn't like beating the kid would prove anything. In fact, now that she thought about it, wasn't HE supposed to have won? Oops. "Really sorry. Didn't mean to go overboard like that. You're pretty good with that sword, though." And she meant it. Aludra was far better than any of her students with the blade and was probably better than most people she knew.
Ok, that right there was a lie. She knew plenty that were better than him, but knew nobody at his skill level actually ON Gaia. So it wasn't shocking that things got out of hand quickly. It was a good thing they weren't, say, outside during their class. Oh boy, things would have gotten real interesting, real quickly.

Aludra couldn't help the blush that snuck onto his face at the obvious compliment, tail flipping to either side on the floor nervously. He let out a quietly surprised sound when the thick coating of ice vanished, dropping him about an inch more onto the actual floor. Still trying to get breath back into his lungs, he pulled himself up to his feet, brushing off his clothing and going to get the practice sword that he'd accidentally dropped in his mess of a trip. At the question, his red-rimmed eyes flicked back toward the woman and he gave her one of those awkward half-smiles that he'd made famous.
"I am fine, do not worry yourself. The worst part was falling like that; I knocked the wind out of myself, it would appear," he explained, coughing gently and hitting at his chest in the hopes of getting it to work more properly. At the more direct compliment, his face only lit up brighter, and he glanced away, gently playing with the practice sword, trying to pretend that he hadn't heard that. "I-it's fine. The going overboard, I mean; if anyone, I certainly can understand taking something too seriously. Though I do have to wonder... what does this mean in relation to the sword that we had... previously spoken of?"
