The Pokemon region introduced in Ruby, Saphire, and Emerald. Hoenn is a large island that has its own Pokemon league and is the first region to sponsor both Pokemon contests and a Battle Frontier. Trainers from Hoenn usually start with Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip, but recently have been given the option to start with Skitty, Bagon, and Ralts.
