Corwin felt his skin prickle when Filante's voice rumbled. "There are a lot of stars out there to be the God of," Corwin said, looking back into the fire. "I'm glad to hear that my memories might be triggered... but I can't see myself being a God to anyone, ever. Maybe it would let me help someone better, though. I guess I can only tell in time." Filante was definitely right when he guessed that Corwin was asking because he couldn't remember much. Was it cold in the sky? Where had he been, before he manifested with the scent of a Bonfire? He wished he could remember, but if Filante was right, then things would return in time.

Had Corwin seen a shooting star? He could remember... Hevn, he could remember Hevn's pale hair in the night like starlight. They were lying in the grass, and he kept close to Hevn to keep him warm. Hevn hated the cold, but he was always cold. There, in the sky. Hevn pointed up lazily. What is that, Hevn?
A falling star, little one. And Hevn smiled when Corwin worried about if it would be in pain when it hit the ground, ruffled his hair.

"I've seen a falling star... is there a difference?"

"A difference? Not by much except that a shooting star bursts across the night sky, that and if you make a wish on one, it will surely come true! Unlike my sister, who is the Goddess of Falling Stars. they fall to earth and eventually disappear in the air into dust. but it's a good thing; I heard that falling star dust can be used to make candles that hold the spirits of us! So in a way, Etoile does some good..." Filante sighed. thinking about how cold hearted his sister was now, how is it that she could do something good?

"I remember how I use to look, too. I had this blonde hair as I do now, and my horns. But I didn't look quite like this." Filante's tail wisped at the tip with his aura.

Etoile's name made Corwin shiver. So much cold. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, his eyes closed, expelling the feeling. When he opened them again, he was better able to listen. So that was the difference; Etoile's domain was the falling stars, whereas Filante's affinity rested in shooting stars? Corwin smiled, and mumbled, "So what happens if I make a wish on you?" Then he wondered about Filante's statement that he remembered how he had used to look.

"How you used to look? When? Before you waited in the sky to be drawn into a candle?... I'm sorry, I'm trying to understand this world. I feel a little at odds here. You weren't a Twilif before, right? When you had blonde hair, and horns, but not quite this form?" Corwin folded his hands in front of him, pressing his thumbs together and wiggling them while he thought. His eyebrows pressed together. He was the very picture of difficult contemplation, or of someone who just couldn't get the puzzle to look like what it was supposed to. Corwin couldn't remember very much past Hevn. At least Hevn was more clear to him, now.

Idly, Corwin swirled a warm breeze around them, circling his heat and cold at perfect temperatures without realizing. As soon as he wasn't distracted with thought, the breeze stopped. He blinked and looked down at his hands. Weird. Looking back up at Filante, he listened intently.

Filante could see Corwin shiver at the mention of Etoile's name. He must have not like her at all, what with how stale and cold her character was. She didn't have many friends, though neither did he. At least in the most he had Corwin. "If you make a wish on me, I'll try my best to make it come true! But... I can't. I am unable to fly at the moment, since I am trapped in this childish body. But when I become a Constellation here, I'll make it come true, easy." he smiled brightly. He was almost curious to hear Corwin's wish, to see if even now as a Twilif could he make it come true? Then he heard his friend ask about how he use to look...

"I had very long platnium blonde hair. It was longer than my own body! And these horns were larger and more grand. I had golden, flowing robes as well. They would be like the tails on the shooting stars you see in the sky!" His brown eyes twinkled... he seeme to be reminiscing on his old look, "Perhaps when I grow, I will look like that again..."

It wasn't that Corwin didn't like Etoile, exactly. He looked down at his hands and flexed his warm hand. He couldn't help her, and she couldn't feel his heat, which meant he retreated into the cold. He hated the cold, even though he would have to learn how to use them both.

When Filante offered to try and make his wish come true, Corwin smiled. His wish was probably not one which could be granted in full. Corwin wanted to become stronger, to start a flame in everyone. The more time he spent with Filante, the warmer he felt. He was even remembering more about Hevn. Corwin ran his hands through his hair. "I think... this might be weird, um... I don't know how to say it..." Corwin smiled and pressed his cool hand to his forehead briefly. "Being your friend.. I think that's my wish, for right now, you know?"

Long hair, horns, robes... Filante sounded like he had looked quite impressive. "Maybe you will look like you did, or maybe you'll be even more impressive this time around," Corwin laughed, but not in a disbelieving way; he laughed like all this kind of happiness he felt was welling up inside him. Corwin curled up closer to the fire, playing in it again, looking between it and Filante. He tried to picture it, Filante in a different body. He shook his head, smiling. He wasn't very good at it.

Corwin wondered what he had looked like before. He'd been someone else, right? With memories, friends, maybe even family. Corwin hoped that in time, things would return to him.

Being his friend for now...it was a small wish, but to Filante it was something he had already granted. Surely, even though that wish would seem like nothing to many, it was one of the most important ones to Filante. Filante scooted over closer to Corwin, "I do believe I've already granted that wish, then. I'm quite happy to have done so, Corwin. It's one of the most important ones I have heard since I came down to Earth~" He nodded slightly. He seemed genuinely happy that he was able to coax Corwin into telling him.

"Better... well, when I grow, you can be the judge of that then, huh?" The boy was grinning like a fool. "And I'm sure that when you grow, you'll be able to help a lot more Twilif's too. But my sister's words are right: don't rush your childhood." He stared seriously into Corwin's eyes. Turning his head, he saw that the dark night's sky was beginning to pale to a lighter shade of indigo. He stood, "Is it almost that time already? time sure does fly when you've got a friend to talk with, hm? Care to head out of here for the... morn?"

Corwin smiled when Filante said that being friends was a good wish, and already granted. Since Filante had moved closer to Corwin, he was able to include him in his soft summer heat. It pulsed gently, and Corwin smelled a little like burning wood. "What about you? Do shooting stars have wishes, too?" Corwin turned to Filante, a serious glint in his eyes. Then, he answered Filante, "I wonder what we'll both look like, when we grow... and I understand. I won't rush." He turned to follow Filante's gaze outside. It was indeed growing lighter, and Corwin felt sleepy already. The heat of the fire and his contentment sitting next to Filante had a curious effect on him; he felt that, although the sun was not out, he could have slept a while ago. The cold didn't bother him as much, just then, and he was so grateful for it. Carrying the chill of night inside himself was a heavy thing to hold alone, but maybe he didn't have to share the burden at all. Perhaps, instead, he could share his warmth, and in doing so he might feel it reflected. A beam of light bright enough to empty every shadow from him.

He doubted that would ever happen in such an extreme, and he knew that even if it could happen it would not be a good thing. He needed to carry that balance, to be both light and dark; hot and cold; joy and sorrow. It would define him for as long as he lived. Lost in his own thoughts, his reply was delayed, and preceded by a lengthy yawn and sheepish smile. "Turns out the night isn't as long as I thought. Sure, we can head out, I'd like to see the sun rising." Corwin rubbed his warm hand along his limbs, waking them up, and then placed his hand on Filante's shoulder, giving him a warm glow so that they wouldn't be too chilled when they went outside. "So long as you stay near... I'll keep you warm, okay?" Corwin grinned and stood, making his way to wait beside the door.

Staying near he did. As Corwin opened the door, the cold air seeped back into the INN. "Quickly, let's be going. Thank you!" He called out to the INN keeper and the closed the door as they left. Filante began to lead again, as he knew his way out of the Lost Village and back out into the open plains where they would be able to watch the golden sunrise and see the sky painted from black to pastels. Filante seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. Walking faster than usual, his lantern swaying back and forth.

"Oh, to answer your question..." He piped up in a bit of a huff, "Falling Stars do have wishes too. We wish to be born here...!" Filante flashed a quick smile to Corwin. That was odd. Is that why he fell on his own star to here?

Corwin used his full stride trying to keep close to Filante, nearly running to keep up with the brisk Twilif. Corwin was far too sleepy to keep this up, and his eyes were almost closing themselves, so he fixed his gaze on Filante's starry aura and followed blindly. He maintained a comfortable, sleepy aura of heat around them, staying always near enough to do so. Corwin's lanterns floated rather haphazardly around him, trying to keep up.

"Here? Well, I'm glad that's your wish, then." And the things behind that: Corwin felt a little less cold, a little less worn out, a little less lonely. Even if for this one night, Corwin felt at peace. The hard thing about finding something good is being afraid of losing it, though, and Corwin almost wanted to resign himself to the fact that he may never have another comfortable night like that again. However, he pushed that away from him, filling himself instead with warmth. "You're in a hurry, aren't you!" Corwin squished out between sucking in air and exhaling it, as a lantern smacked him in the cheek.

"We have to be if we want to make it out to the plains in time!" Filante reached back and grasped Corwin's hand, sort of dragging him along as they hurried out of the forest and towards the grassy plains. Soon enough after the stumbling and dragging along, their feet touched something soft; grass. Small crunchings took place of the hard dirt as Filante took them out into the more open area, where there was a lonesome tree in the middle of the green sea.

"We made it! Time to get... yawwwwwn, comfy~" He let out quite a yawn, even though both of the boys just had a brisk workout. Settling down into the grass, he let Corwin's warm hand go so that he could settle down as well. "It's going to get nice and warm today, I can feel it." His eyes looking out towards the horizon, watching the sky become a lighter, pale blue.

Corwin laughed, which turned into a wide yawn which he couldn't stop. Filante grabbed his hand and Corwin used that opportunity to warm them up more easily. "At least now if I fall you can drag me down the path without stopping," he laughed, squeezing Filante's hand gently. When they reached the open area, Corwin smiled to see the one tree alone there. A perfect place to be. He was glad they made it in time.

It was nice out already, the sky changing colours. When Filante let his hand go, he settled down next to him in the grass. "You know something? I think you're right; it should be a nice day. Too bad I'll be asleep for all of it!" Corwin's laughter was interrupted by a yawn again. Everything felt warm and fuzzy. The chill inside him was easing up as the sun began to rise. "I'm glad I met you," Corwin mumbled sleepily, doing all he could to stay awake long enough to watch the sun rise.

Hearing Corwin yawn made Filante yawn as well. Dang things were contagious. Covering hs mouth with his hand as he did. He watched the sunrise with Corwin. a pale, steel blue, then some lavender faded in as well. Soon you could see a bright pink, and pretty, creamy hues of orange and yellow. It was such a pretty morning rainbow. Filante's eyes were drooping just as his friend's were. "Aaaaawwwwnnn... I'm glad I...met you too, Corwin. See you later when we...aaaaawwwnnnn...wake up..."

Curling up a bit, his eyes closed after seeing Corwin as his last image. Both were asleep when the sun finally came a glimpse into view. It was going to be a nice day after all.
