It was one of those days where Valeri had randomly taken his daughter to a clothing store. Not for her but for him. Just to get some new clothes that weren't worn, filled with holes, or just generally deemed un-wearable. For now he concentrated on clothes that he didn't have to try on in a dressing room because he had a small girl with him and he wasn't going to drag her into the dressing room with him. Not in a million years but he also had a new problem just now. His daughter had decided to play tag with him and in her exuberance had forgotten that he couldn't move very fast and he had soon lost sight of her.

...Crap.

While Valeri struggled to remain calm and collected, Miranda was running, running, and running as fast as her chubby little legs could take her and she glanced back and saw that Papi was no where behind her. Her wide-brimmed hat blocked her view as it had flopped down for a moment and it was suddenly smooshed against her face. She squeaked when she suddenly bumped into something she could not see and fell right to the floor with a small gasp.

"Owwiiiieeeee," She squeaked softly. The rat-girl had landed on her tail. Boy did that hurt!

Haruka was here to clothes shop today as well! This store happened to just get in a line of geisha, Shibuya and other Japanese themed shirts, which the fox girl was more than happily going through. Though these t-shirts paled in comparison to her current, elaborate visual kei outfit, there were days when she just wanted a ‘simple’ t-shirt. The girl was humming to herself, ignoring the looks she received from people as she went through the t-shirt rack until she felt something squishy bump into her leg, causing her to sway.

She abandoned her shirt search for now to turn towards what bumped into her, her eyes widening in curiosity at the adorable squeaky sound to see what appeared to be a very pale little girl with her face covered by her hat! Haruka then kneeled, uttering a “Kawaii!” as her fingers reached up to tilt the hat up so that she could see her face, smiling widely at the girl, “Are you okay, cutie?”

She stared up at the face that tilted her hat up with reddish pink and slightly watery eyes. Was she okay? Not really she whined softly as she wiped at her eyes, "I landed'th on m'tail~," she cried out in a very upset tone. She didn't care that this person was a stranger her arms reached up toward the individual before her seeking comfort since her Papi was not there to assist or comfort her.

"I lo'th'ed my Papi!" She cried even more once the realization had hit her. Miranda really couldn't help it! It was very disturbing to discover that you had outrun your limping guardian only to injure yourself, but this person seemed nice. They would be nice, right? They'd help her find Papi and it'd all be okay again!

Miranda hoped and hoped and hoped some more.

Awww! This girl was just too adorable!

Haruka frowned with concern and sympathy for the poor thing. “Oh no! Here, let’s get you back on your feet and do an inspection!” Oh man, the fox girl felt as if she was just going to explode from how adorable this little girl was! Just from the way she spoke, to how chubby she was, and especially with the way the little girl reached up to her despite only having just met her!

Good thing she wasn’t a child kidnapper or anything…This would have been too easy.

The girl grasped Miranda’s little hands as she reached up to her and then pulled the girl up and onto her feet, making a ‘whoosh’ sound as she did so and once she was sure the girl was secure, reached out to brush off her dress and smooth it out and blinked when the girl announce she had lost her Papi…oh no…a little lost child! That wasn’t good! Haruka quickly decided on a course of action and if twenty minutes had passed and this girl still hadn’t found her Papi she would then lead her to the front desk. “Don’t worry Little One!” Haruka cooed to her, “We have a plan! I’m gonna wait right here with you and together we will wait for your Papi to come find you!”

Haruka glanced around for a moment before suddenly reaching into her jacket and pulling out a pink patterned piece of Origami paper. Don’t ask why she happened to carry paper around, she just happened to. “Hey! Do you like birds?” She questioned in a chipper tone, anything to keep the girl from becoming more distressed as she placed the piece of paper on the floor and then started to fold it. She would make a paper crane for the girl and hopefully watching her make it would help to calm her.

What’s your name?” She questioned after a moment, looking up at her again and smiling widely. “My name is Haru!”

She let the stranger help her up and managed a small giggle when a sound effect was made. She couldn't help it! It was fun! She let the stranger brush her off as she sniffled and nodded her head mournfully as she was told not to listen though her brow was furrowed a bit with worry still despite being told not to! Miranda liked the idea of waiting with the fun person who made funny noises and then suddenly she pulled out a weird...PINK patterned piece of paper. The chubby rat-girl let out a small keen after a quick sniffle, "E'th pink! I love pink! I like bird'th too!" Miranda said enthralled as she moved closer to watch as the stranger began to fold it up, her lips formed a bit of an 'o' of wonderment as she watched.

That was so...so...neat! Could she do that? She'd love to do that!

"'M Miranda," she said sounding a bit more cheerful now that her mind was taken off of the fact that she was briefly and non-fatally hurt and that her Papi was nowhere nearby. Miranda let out a small happy sound at the stranger's name, yay it was easy to say and had no 's' sounds anywhere in it, she loved it!

"Haruuuuuuuu~," Miranda chimmed cheerfully.

Haruka smiled at the girl’s giggle, pleased to be bringing her a bit of comfort and joy while they waited. She could remember a time when her and Haruki were small like she was and got separated from their mother in a crowd at a festival and how they were fine for a bit because they had each other but after a couple of minutes they were both crying wrecks until their mother found them because they thought they were being abandoned. Good times.

The fox girl then grinned when Miranda made the small keen. “Oh? You love pink? Is it your favorite color?” She questioned curiously as she continued to fold, making sure to firmly press the creases of the paper in an effort to create a good crane. Oooh Miranda! That was an adorable name! Haruka giggled a bit as Miranda chimed her name and after a few moments she chimed back in return, “Miiiiii-chan ~ ! How old are you, Mi-chan?” It wouldn’t be too much longer now, this paper crane was almost finished!

Miranda nodded excitedly, "Ye'th! That and the color li...Lila...purple'th!" she chirped happily as she watched the nice lady continue to work with the paper. She always forgot how to say the color 'lilac' something about it always seemed to slip her mind, she'd get close but then it would flitter off into the distance with taunting laughter. She blinked at the question at how old she was and had to honestly think about it for a few moments she then held up her hand then held her hand closer to her own face and counted the fingers just to make sure she was holding up the right amount.

"One...two...three...four'th...five...!" She thrust her hand out toward Haruka excitedly and proudly with a bit of a wiggle that even reached all the way up to her fingertips before she dropped her hand toward her side and she stared down at the paper as it shaped with Haru's hard work. She pondered a bit, "How old i'th Haru?" She asked curiously.

Miranda was starting to wonder if she could one day do what Haruka was now doing it looked neat and fun!

Haruka smiled a bit as the girl stumbled over the word before offering, “Lilac? I agree with you! That is a pretty color as well! I have some clothes that are that color.” She kept folding and when she noted a pause she glanced up at Miranda only to catch her counting on her fingers and giggled softly as her attention returned to the paper crane. This girl was just too cute, seriously. Her papi might want to hurry or she’ll just take her home instead! She can have Haruki’s room. The girl grinned a bit evilly at this.

Five years old?” Haruka echoed, glancing up at her once more and then reached up with one hand to wiggle her fingers against Miranda’s before returning to the crane. “That is excellent! Will you be turning six soon?” When the little girl asked how old she was, the fox girl responded, “I am sixteen years old! That is fiiiiive plus eleven.” After answering the question Haruka lifted up the crane and pulled at its wings a bit to buff out its body and then with a triumphant smile held it out to Miranda, her fingers grasping the crane’s tail and head as she then moved them, which caused the crane to flap its wings!

Ta da! For Mi-chan!” She announced, now holding the crane out to the girl to take.

She swayed happily as the young lady agreed with her and she made a happy humming sound as she kept on watching the folding of the paper. Miranda found that she really, really liked this girl and that now it didn't matter whether or not Papi would come and find them now or ever! Then again it did matter a little but right now she was content to stay put like a good girl and paused at the question as to whether or not she'll be turning six soon.

Miranda reached tilted her head to the side, "Don' think th'o~," she giggled softly and then stopped abruptly when Haruka enlightened her as to how old she was. Her lips parted in awe! There were numbers that high?! She held up one little hand and then the other and tried to imagine that such a number existed past what she could see but alas she couldn't get it to compute and decided that Haruka was too nice to lie to her and accepted it as she was told!

She let out a small happy sound when the crane was completed and took the paper creature within her small hands, "It'th bea-oo-tee-ful~! Thank you, thank you!"

Yes, her papi might want to really hurry now, or else he wouldn’t find his daughter anywhere….kukuku.

You don’t think so?” Haruka echoed. “So did you just turn five then?” She questioned, smiling in amusement as the rat girl looked impressed by how old she was and then tried to calculate it. Her smile widened as she finished the crane and then presented it to Miranda who made a happy sound. “You’re very welcome! I’m glad you like it.” She grinned then, resting her face in her hands in her kneeling position watched the girl. The fox girl quickly glanced about, checking to see if there was someone looking like a parental unit coming their way. Oh well, she would just keep chatting the girl up to keep her from becoming worried.

Do you go to school, Mi-Chan? Do you enjoy it?”

She looked thoughtful for a long moment before she shook her head. No she didn't JUST turn five but then again it was hard for her to comprehend the idea of when she turned a certain age at a certain time so she didn't often question it before she finally settled on the answer, "Th'omewhere'th in between'th!"

Miranda happily toyed with the crane, "I wanna learn how to do thi'th!" she said happily as she held onto it gently as she could with her small fingers. This was just so neat! A small creature made out of paper she just adored it! She paused when questioned about school and pointed her reddish eyes upward in thought before she responded, "Papi and Mami teache'th me th'tuff! One day I go to th'chool though'th. I know how to th'pell thing'th! Like cat! Th'ee-Ay-Tee! Cat."

The rat-girl tilted her head, "Doe'th Haru go th'chool?"

Around this time a man came limping forward looking panicked at first until he clapped eyes on his daughter, "Miranda! There you are."

"Hai Papi! I make'th friend!" She pointed cheerfully at Haruka.

Haru waited patiently for Miranda’s answer and when given an answer she laughed in amusement and at how adorable it was. “Fair enough.” She replied.

Maybe I’ll be able to teach you one day.” The fox girl chirped, given the fact that they might be able to see each other again after this little mall mishap. Haru would certainly love to! This girl was just too cute. “Ooh, they do?” She questioned, “What a good Papi and Mami!” As the rat girl then proceeded to spell ‘cat’ Haru clapped her hands for Miranda. “Well done! You are an excellent speller!” She grinned then and gave a nod of her head at the question. “Yes, I go to school, I am in the tenth grade.”

Before she could talk to Miranda anymore, she heard a man’s voice calling for the girl and turned her gaze to see who it could be, but she wasn’t left wondering for long for Miranda knew exactly who it was. Oh! So this was the girl’s Papi!

She smiled as Miranda pointed at her and called her a friend, before speaking out to the limping man. “Good thing you came when you did, Sir, or else I would have taken her and kept her all to myself.” Her eyes then closed as she smiled, into the trademark, mischievous fox smile.

Miranda beamed at the laugh. She didn't exactly get why Haru laughed but it was awesome that she caused it! It meant she said something funny.

The rat-girl nodded cheerfully with excitement evident in her wide red-pink eyes, "Ye'th! I like'th to learn th'tuff like'th that!" she chattered happily mostly forgetting that they were waiting for her Papi right now or supposed to be looking for him, either way it slipped her mind and she was happily swimming in the praise and widened her eyes at the mention of this thing called a 'tenth grade'. "That mean'th ya really good yi'th?"

Valeri's attention was easily caught by his daughter and then the addition of the female youth's voice. He looked relieved as he limped his way over to her and offered a small laugh, "Yeah? Well she is a very sweet and friendly little girl, I wouldn't have blamed you for it," he smiled lightly as he leaned and patted Miranda on the head. "Sweetheart you know Papi doesn't run that fast."

Miranda offered a sigh as she stared up at him, "But I wan' play tag'th!"

The man paused and pursed his lips this was a bit of a situation he had, "I know," he sighed a bit as he rubbed at the back of his neck.

"Haru can play?" the rat-girl offered curiously.

Valeri glanced at the fox-eared girl and furrowed his brow, "I am sure she has things she has to get done elsewhere..."
