You know that I mean right? I always only assigned certain GFs to a certain character unless it was impossible to. For example on my games
Squall always gets Shiva - ALWAYS!!!!
Quistis or Zell always get Quezacotl
Quistis or Selphie always get Ifrit
Squall or Rinoa always get Siren
Rinoa or Zell always get Carbuncle
Squall or Rinoa always get Leviathan
Irvine gets Pandemona
Selphie always gets Brothers
The rest generally depend on my mood....

Squall always gets Quezacotl and Diablos and Carbuncle. No exceptions. Also, for some reason he only ever has these three. I never give him more.
Zell always has Ifrit.
Selphie and sometimes Quistis will always have Shiva and Siren.
The rest depends on who needs the junction points.

I also ALWAYS have Shiva to Squall, but in addition to her Squall also always got Diablos, Siren(for the ST junctions), and Carbuncle(for the Ability x). Later on I gave him Bahamut and Alexander, but that was always it. I did have a habit of throwing the newly acquired GFs on him right away since I knew that we the easiest way to get the AP and to remember to actually level them. sweatdrop
Otherwise, Zell got Ifrit and Quistis or Selphie got Quezacotl.

When I played before.. I would give Squall - Shiva, Diablos, Bahamut, and Cerberus... and fill the other GFs in where I see fit.
This current game, I actually sat down. I wrote out all the GFs and wrote down the abilities that they have so that I could better distribute them. It's still not perfect, but each of my party (I only ever junction to three at a time, and switch when needed. The Laguna scenes irritate the hell out of me, junction-wise.) has almost all junction slots, elemental and status atk and def, some sort of strength plus, initiative and Abil x4.

Every time I've played, the GFs would mostly be in certain groups.
Shiva, Brothers, Diablos
Quezacotl, Ifrit, Pandemona, Alexander
Siren, Carbuncle, Leviathan and Cerberus
I've never obtained Doomtrain, Bahamut, Jumbo SabotenderCactuar, Tonberry King and Eden consectutively through my plays so I can't group them appropriately, and Odin/Gilgamesh, Phoenix, Boko(Chocobo), Minimog and Moomba don't nessecarily count.
Sh,Br,Di were normally juntioned to Squall. Whenever Squall wasn't within the picture, they went to Rinoa/Quistis (and to Edea during the Lunatic Pandora's passing over Esthar)
Qu,If,Pa,Al went to Zell or Irvine/Selphie/Quistis
Si,Ca,Le,Ce went to Selphie or Irvine/Rinoa.
