A bustling metropolis, that has suffered much, the city is circular in design but upon looking at the city its shape and design takes on the appearance of a ship, with the Castle built on the eastern side facing the west, as the centre point of the power of Riverrun.
The river still to this day courses through the very middle of the city, though the flow has been controlled through clever engineering of the guild of inventors so the river may take its natural course and not create structural weakness.
The folk of Riverrun are a mix and match of different cultures and races plying trades as normal people with normal lives, or adventuring the city-state as one might roam a country, indeed the city has become so large, that it has developed cultures in different parts of the city’s residential area resting mainly to the north-west of the city, along with the north-east. Many of these cultures have come to be associated with different traits dialects and indeed trades, many of which help fuel the economy of the city. Along with this there has arisen many curious trades of a magical nature, including enchanting, charming, and many of the well known and mundane trades have grown to incorporate such things into its workings, such as weapons of magical nature, healing arts that use curative elixirs and even water purification and enhanced foods, or the growing of foods, that were otherwise unavailable.
The High Street stretches from the South of the city to the North, This Street is directly connected to the Trading Road heading North. Although dead within the center of the High street is the City Center, a place where people meet with others and City Faction representatives can be found. this will also be where the politicians of Riverrun can be found, their estates circling the center, and of course, these political groups are likely weaved within the City Factions for a better sense of physical strength within the city.
The Prison rests towards the South-West of the city, having its own small segregated district, making guarding it a far more centered operation. Often would be adventurer’s and warriors are hired for duty as guards, for the prison is designed almost as a separate city in itself, with criminals jailed closer to the centre depending on the level of their crime, history and capability, it is even said that the very centre is not controlled by the guards, and that it is haven, to the most horrendous and dangerous criminals in the history of the city.
The city has been brought to its knees in the past, But this is the cities time of growth and of prosperity for its population. This is the city-state, of Riverrun.
