Appearance: The first thing that people notice about R'ken is well… they don't tend to notice him at all really. The unfortunate teen has managed to inherit the short gene, and as such remains a good head or two shorter than most people his age. In a world full of harder, better, faster, stronger, he feels a definite need to try and overcompensate for his height, especially when it comes to fixing large or tall things. As a result, he has spent many hours with the Smiths, lending a hand wherever he could in order to build whatever strength he could. Despite this, however, R'ken seems destined for a very square body. He's got the muscle, but he's also got the weight to go along with it, and he'll never be able to change that much of his body shape. His hair is a common, dark brown, his skin fairly pale, and he has no major scars or blemishes worth mentioning aside from the calluses on his hands. A fight in his childhood – though he often claims it was just a work accident – resulted in a missing front tooth, giving him a rather holey smile.
Personality: R'ken tries to be a good boy, he really does, but life just never turns out the way he wants it to. Most tend to describe him as bumbling, with a good heart and a brain that just can't keep up with Ghenza life. Some have even offered him the herbal mix fed to dragons, jokingly telling him he ought to drink more and grow a proper brain. Naturally, it took him a few tries to get that joke, and then a few more to realize that they were actually joking and didn't want him sneaking herbal mix. How was he supposed to know that? Honestly. The world would be a much better place if everyone could just be as honest as he was.
Severely lacking in the tact department, he's made quite a long list of unintentional enemies simply because he was being too honest when the situation called for a little deception. But how was he supposed to know the girl wanted him to say she looked good in that dress? She hadn't! And she had asked for his honest opinion! It's because of this that he's missing a tooth, having said the wrong thing to the wrong person and ended up in a fight he definitely wasn't ready for. Despite his build, R'ken doesn't like fighting; in that respect he is very much a pacifist. He especially dislikes seeing women fight, and would never raise a hand against one no matter what she said or did to him. It just isn't right to treat a lady with such disrespect. Even the High Reaches imports would receive the same treatment. A woman is a woman is a woman, no matter where she's from, and a man should treat all women the same.
R'ken is, at heart, a people pleaser. He wants everyone to be happy and will go to great lengths to ensure other people's happiness. Where he falls short is his inability to understand why everyone doesn't share his simplistic views of happiness. Good food, a warm bed, and a job to get up to every morning is all he needs, so why can't others share that need? He certainly has no great ambitions to go above and beyond expectations – not that he could do it anyways – and thus has a hard time relating to trend setters or goal seekers. R'ken likes the status quo just the way it is, thank you very much.
Though he's yet to Impress a dragon, he has always felt a certain kind of fascination towards the large creatures. But, it's not his job to be a dragonrider (at least not yet) which means he can't spend time daydreaming about the future. That all changed, however, when he Impressed brown Bisoitcoth and his future took a sudden turn down daydream road.

History
Pre-Impression
Rasken certainly doesn't break out of Ghenza tradition, at least not in his familial background. His mother came from the tailoring sector, his father from the smiths, which meant that as soon as he was old enough to lift a hammer he accompanied his father to and from the workshop. The son of a Smith, whose father was a Smith, whose father was a Smith, you know the drill.
When he was twelve he was lucky enough to attend a touching, the memory one of his fondest. Any dreams he had of being a dragonrider, however, were quite quickly crushed when he didn't Impress the clutch that he Touched. After that, of course, he still attended Hatchings, but whatever magical connection he thought he'd made with the unborn dragons proved to be nothing more than a myth. If asked about the incident to this day he'll say it was just the way of dragons, and he has no opinion on the subject. Dragons choose who they see fit, after all.
The rest of his life since then has been spent honing his skills as a Wrighter, which means fixing anything and everything that comes his way. With his father and his sister working at his side, Ghenza is certainly kept in good shape (as it should be). He specializes in locks, lock boxes and keys, but can often be found working little bits of scrap metal into hair pins or broaches.

Personality: If everything in the land of dragons was determined by intelligence alone, Bisoitcoth would be on the top of the food chain, no questions asked. (But if you did have a question, he'd probably know the answer.) His logic is capable of matching and perhaps outwitting that of man. Any trace of ego is just that--a trace. If you told him he was as bright as the sun, he'd respond by saying he'd never went to look down on others all day.
Ignorance is bliss, or so the saying goes, and no one believes it more than Bisoitcoth. He has an envy and admiration of those not quite up to his level of intellect similar to a fondness one would have for their dim-witted pet dog. Sure, he's stupid enough to run too fast across the kitchen floor and ends up crashing into the wall, but he recovers far faster than anyone who would stop to dwell on their misfortune. That kind of simplicity is something this brown wishes he had, but it's not possible for him to just stop thinking so much.
He understands your jokes perfectly, so don't go assuming he's one of those types so book smart he lacks common sense. The problem is he just doesn't find most things funny. He understands when you playfully inform him the chicken crossed the road to get to the other side, it's supposed to be funny as is. He's not going to sit and ponder what was on the other side, because he knows there was supposed to be nothing, but he might muse over how something like that is supposed to amuse him. If he told you he went outside to go outside, you wouldn't laugh at that, now would you?
Sarcasm is something that does slip past him sometimes. He isn't a walking sitcom, and if someone mocked him in a way that was obvious, he'd catch on. However, if he were to ask someone he was aggravating what he could do, and they informed him to go dig a hole and sit in it, he might assume they actually want him to as punishment. Distinguishing tone of voice is a challenge for Bisoitcoth, and he relies more on what someone says rather than how they say it. The dragon himself will always be very clear-cut in what he says, leaving no room for doubt or assumption if he can help it.
Moving on, here's a question for you: If Spiderman and Batman got in a fight, who would win?
Answer: You'll never know. Why? Because Bisoitcoth had enough foresight to see a brawl was about to start before anyone threw a punch. He's already safely ushered everyone out of the line of fire, and would do so a hundred more times without complaint. It's not that he's a coward; Bisoitcoth is a brave soul. He just considers it his duty to make sure those who should be safe are, in fact, safe. After that, he and others who are supposed to be and danger can march up to the front lines without concern for the innocent bystanders. Never would he try and guide his fellow dragon away from a Threadfall. It's dangerous, yes, but it's supposed to be; it's their job.
Although he maintains modesty in his words, his actions sometimes suggest maybe Bisoitcoth doesn't mind feeling superior after all. Wrong. Underestimating the ability of others is something he does, but it's not because he finds himself better than them. The underdogs, in Bisoitcoth's eyes, will always be the underdogs, and it will take some life-altering event to make him think otherwise. Personally, he's more than happy to be traditional about who he listens to. The word of a bronze will be taken under serious advisement just because he's a bronze, and being a brown himself, he sees nothing wrong with this. When you maintain order, you maintain safety.
Bisoitcoth would never dream of even attempting a gold flight, but would gladly chase any green so long as His wouldn't mind. Being a sore loser isn't a problem for him, and considering he's only average in speed, size and stamina, this will make his inevitable failures much easier to bare.
