Absinthe didn't go out much these days, the more interesting part of his life seeming to grind to a screeching halt. It'd started with Kahlua vanishing (Mom had said he went home?), then Bailey and Ebby moving out (when had his little sister gotten so much bigger than him?) and Uncle Charlie going soon after. Now it was just him, Shiraz and Mom, which was sorta quiet.

The child had taken to wandering off on his own or taking Shiraz out to play. She wasn't too social and their company didn't last very long before he'd end up taking her back home and going out on a walk by himself. By now, a bit of his pudge was vanishing, leaving him a bit leaner and taller.

Eventually, the green haired boy had made the decision to start venturing to more social places and see about getting stuff to interest him more, or meet people. He hadn't seen any of his friends in forever, so might as well meet someone new, right?

Today, he was in a book store, looking around at the selection. There were lots of things he could get and just start reading about, but what?

When it came to fun Crevan Delano seemed to not quite understand what the word meant, as though it weren't in his dictionary. Ever since Roll had moved out to go out and do whatever it was that 'homeless vagrants did', Crevan's words not his, Ashton found himself at the mercy of his Father. The man seemed to be hellbent on getting him to succeed where Roll had failed in life. As such here he was... he'd been dropped off in front of the book store, given a list of things he was to look for, and the money in which to buy those books. If, and only if, he had left over money was he allowed to get books that he wanted which were any books on plants and the growing there of.

Ashton glanced over his shoulder at his father's car before he turned back to the store. He lifted his feet up to shake the dirt free of his strange root feet off before he headed inside. He didn't want to track in the dirt that almost always clung to them into the store. Once he was inside he adjusted the bag that was resting over his shoulder before he started forward. He had all the time he needed to find his books, when he was done he was to call his Father to pick him up from the store so he could get home and get to work studying. He knew there was going to be a lot of reading to be done when he got home... as such he meant to spend as much time roaming the store as possible.

As the young man walked through the aisles, which were dimmer then the bright outdoors, he gave off a dim green glow that he'd gotten used to. It was brighter when he was fresh from the shower, just got done watering his plants, or was playing out in the rain. Water seemed to make him glow brightly, but for the moment it was a lesser glow though even this seemed to draw the attention of those around him though he seemed a bit oblivious to the attention as his eyes scanned through the various book titles on the shelves.

Sinny glanced up when he noticed a strange glow ahead of him. "Hey there." he greeted Ashton with a small wave before flipping through a few more books on the shelves. "Sup?"

Well, if you were in a store to meet and talk to people, might as well say hi to the strange glowing green dude right? Especially since he and Sinny both looked like weird plant people

Ashton turned around at the voice, his gaze falling to the one standing there and he looked for a moment surprised as he lifted a hand to adjust his glasses as though he'd almost thought for a second he was seeing things. He wasn't though, it was someone who looked to have the exact same bright coloring that he had, at least when he was glowing anyway, "Buying books." He said, then blinked a couple times and chuckled, "Though I am sure that is rather obvious, isn't it given we are in a bookstore."

What else would be be doing here he thought to himself in a somewhat embarrassed manner. He'd never really had his older brother's social skills, had instead been happy just to follow his lead even when Roll was far smaller then he was, "Text books." He explained, "My father is determined I end up a genius to balance out my vagrant brother, what about you?" He asked curiously, sure he was here for something far more interesting then balancing out his family's scales or so Ashton really hoped.

Absinthe snickered, "Well no, you could be stealing them." he pointed out teasingly. "

Walking closer he looked down at the text books on the shelf, "I wasn't really looking for much. Just bored." the hiccup explained, "What sort of text books at least?"

"I shudder to think what my Father would think if he even suspected me capable of that sort of thing." He was certain that he would end up grounded for the rest of his natural life were that sort of thing to happen he was quite sure.

He looked down at what he was holding thus far and gave a little groan, "Nothing interesting, a lot of school books. English, Math, Science and the like. Hes determined to have me grow up in a proper and well educated manner. Not that I mind that so much as I do the enthusiasm he has for it." He was sure he was going to drop dead long before he achieved anywhere near to the expectations that the man held for him. He was pretty sure that Crevan wouldn't stop until he was a Doctor, Lawyer, or some other stressful and high paying job that he didn't really want.

Ashton juggled his books to one hand and held the other, the one covered in green, faintly glowing mushrooms, out to the other guy, "I'm Ashton Delano." Polite introductions were another thing he was getting trained in. As though his Father had any idea what it was to be polite given he was a rather antisocial b*****d to everyone but the one friend he couldn't seem to get rid of try as he might.

The other green haired boy nodded, taking his hand quickly. "Nice to meet you, Absinthe Dartsmoore. Though I mostly just go by Sin or Sinny." he explained.

"So your Dad's one of those pushy types then?" the boy inquired before shaking his head, "I half wish my mom were more pushy. She's like the opposite of that - she doesn't care what I do, or even if it's legal, so long as I'm safe happy and relatively responsible for myself."

"Its nice to meet you as well then Sinny." He said, unable to keep the excitement from his voice, this was a whole lot more fun then heading home right away to study for hours on end in hopes of impressing his father he thought to himself. His good mood seemed to only cause the mass of mushrooms growing up his arm to glow with that much more intensity. It was something he didn't notice though given he was rather used to the fact that he could glow in the dark.

"Oh yeah, my Father is like... the King of the Pushy Types. Especially after Roll decided that he'd take up life as a hobo." He said, giving a little sigh at the mere thought of his older brother who was already moved out and likely camping out at a beach somewhere. Roll was the laziest man alive if Crevan was to be believed and that wasn't going to be how Ashton ended up by God! Etc, etc, ranting that seemed to go on endlessly when his Father got on a roll.

Ashton's eyes got a little wide, "I can't help but envy you, I would love it if my Father would act like that... the only time he calms down at all is when his only friend comes to visit. I swear that the guy much drug my father or something... Its the only time the man seems to relax."

Sinny snickered, "Man, my siblings aren't half that bad. My brother and sister did move out though. But they're like super responsible and well behaved, it's crazy." he explained, gesturing a bit as the words came out, "My sister's a lust demon angel thing and she's like the nicest chick you could meet and went off to become a dancer in a charity show. And my brother moved away to start working at a clothing store or a photography studio or something and is dating some girl he knows."

Rolling his eyes, the boy chuckled a bit more, "At least got some sort of goal intended, even if it sucks and he's hard about it. I could go up to my mother and tell her I'm moving to Thailand to beat up hookers with a crowbar and she'd say 'Whatever. I won't front bail more than three times though.', it's a bit scary." the boy explained quietly, his exaggerated metaphor a bit out of the blue but sensible.

Shaking his head Sinny grinned, "So, what would you rather be reading about, if not school?"

Ashton listened closely to what was being said to him, head tilted to one side, then chuckled, "I hope that isn't your goal in life but I see what you mean." He was that much more envious in a way, just telling his Father that he wanted to go out to get some more plants for his garden was normally met with a somewhat disapproving stare. It were as though he didn't want Ashton to end up with the same hobby as their family friend. He supposed having some sort of goal, even if it weren't the one he really had a lot of interest in, was better then no goal.

"If I had my pick I would rather be in the gardening section of the book store then here among the text books that's for certain." Learning new and better ways to make his plants grow up strong, learning about new type of plants that would go well in his garden, things like that, "My father has like... one friend in the world and the guy runs a Flower Shop, growing up around him made me rather like plants. For whatever reason despite not minding that his friend is into flowers hes none to pleased that I am." A strange sort of biased on Crevan's part for sure.
