Well, you can do it a number of ways. If you have the skill you can wire wrap the end stone to the body of the wand. If you have the tools you can drill/file a hole in the tip and put the point there. You can glue it, and then hide the glue with wire.
Personally, I like to use polymer clay to attach the stones. You can make awesome designs in the clay around the crystal, and then set the wood in the oven on 275 for 15 to 30 minutes for the clay to harden. The only tricky part is making sure the wood is properly dried before popping it in the oven, because if it isn't, the moister in the wood can cause the clay to bubble and crack. sweatdrop
I assume one could also use air drying clay, but I'm not sure how effective it is. I've never used it. xD

Oh, polymer clay would be perfect! I use it for making sculptures and beads sometimes, so it shouldn't be too hard. And it's far less messy than a glue gun.
