This is a private RP between Van [Kurama no Koishi] and Ah-Ra [likeLinen].
Setting: The Imperial City - Main Street It's just about midday, and the the bustle of Main Street is at its peak. Today there happens to be a cooking competition going on between two rival restaurants. Conveniently, they are of Noble and Legion alliance. Van and Ah-Ra are seated alongside each other, both slaving away at the stoves.

Today was a unique day for many reasons. First, the sun was shining brightly overhead, and Van was nowhere to be found at the training grounds. Instead, she had shed her usual clothes, opting for a short-sleeved qipao instead of her normal ao dai. Her face, too, was fresh and free of makeup. This was a prudent decision on her part, because she was participating in an exclusive, grueling annual event—the rice-cooking competition between the Nobles and the Legion.
Van was a terrible cook. The whole world knew this, and her peers had shaken their heads sadly when they heard that she was going to enter this cooking competition. If Van was in it, they reasoned, it wasn't a cooking competition—it was a competition to see who could make the most potent poison. She couldn't even make rice properly; it always ended up soggy or burnt, and her mother would screech and chase her out of the kitchen. Regardless of her obvious lack of talent in this area of life, Van still thoroughly enjoyed the prospect of cooking competitions. The girl loved cooking, and she loved competition. There was something about the fact that one could craft a gourmet meal from a few simple ingredients that appealed to Van. Couple that with competition, and that was a winning combo. Too bad she had never won one of these contests in her life.
That never stopped her, though. Few things got in Van's way. She had resolved to become a master chef (alongside her ambitions of becoming a fearsome warrior), and since she said it would be so, she would eventually get there.
Eventually.
The Lunarian happily washed the rice that she was about to cook, each kneading motion from her hands bringing a cloud of pearly white into the water. Her tongue peeked out of the corner of her mouth in concentration as she worked at rinsing the grains of rice. It was difficult for her, yes, but it was pleasurable. Van continued this way, paying no attention to the other Lunarians around her.

Today was a typical day for many reasons. First, Ah-Ra wasn't in the place she was supposed to be; she had claimed to her mother that she would be going to the bathhouse. Second, Sultang was not with her, due to fear of her precious pet getting stampeded. And lastly, she was participating in a cooking competition.
The theme of this contest, was rice. Her specialty. Ah-Ra had practically jumped with joy when she saw posters advertising this competition all over town. It would be a chance to raise her ego, brag, and of course, the prize money was also a bit tempting. She had decided on what she was serving. Considering the uncharacteristically warm weather for March, perhaps it was a sign of the next season, the judges were practically sweating too, not to mention all of the cooks. What she would cook was a simple recipe, kimbap. It wasn't a delicacy, in fact a most common food. Not that she cared of course. She would swoon the judges with her taste, and combined with it, would be a refreshing drink made of rice, shikae.
She could already feel that first place was within distance! When Ah-Ra cooked, she blocked everything out of her mind. She had to concentrate on perfecting her food after all. Yeah, yeah, until something hard and large hit her with a 'thud' smack dab in the middle of her face. It had came flying in the direction of the black-haired girl beside her, a Legion girl. And the girl was playing innocent, looking down at her food.
Clutching a handful of cold rice in her hand, vengeance was practically turning it boiled into her palm. The monthly cooking competitions between the Noble restaurants and the Legion restaurants were notorious for getting out-of-hand at times. So, Ah-Ra decided, bring it on. It was all in good fun of course, but what Ah-Ra didn't know was that her action would initiate a full-on Legion VS. Noble foodfight.

Unfortunately for Van, she wasn't always aware of her inability to cook. So, when that giant mound of cold, wet rice had flown from the sides of her large washing basin, she hardly noticed that it had hit the Noble girl sitting next to her. Hell, she might not have even realized that the girl was on the opposing team. All that mattered to Van right now was making sure the rice was nice and clean and ready to be cooked, you see.
So when she felt something sticky hit the side of her head, she had to turn in surprise. This, contrary to what others may have thought, was when Van regarded Ah-Ra for the first time. The other Lunarian was a Noble, of course, yet she failed to see the reason for smacking one's neighbor with a ball of rice. All this was rather unnecessary, wasn't it, especially considering that they were already in a Legion vs. Noble competition!
The girl had come to a rather inaccurate conclusion, then. Not only was the other Lunarian a bit unreasonable, she must have been quite terrible at cooking for a mound of rice that big to escape her bowl. It obvious now that Van had not realized the very same thing had happened to her.
Instead of retaliating right away, Van's full lips shaped into a hard smile. It could have been deemed cruel, if not for the fact that she was participating in a simple cooking competition instead of an all-out war. "Watch where you wash that, eh, Noble?" she said civilly, "I might suck, but at least I can aim," she added dryly, noting the grains of rice on Ah-Ra's face as she spared a moment to brush some of the rice out of her own dark hair. Truly, the other girl's skills must have been even worse than her own. At least Van didn't have rice on her face already!
Some of the white particles stuck in Van's ponytail flew onto the other girl as she returned to her work. The Legionnaire was really getting into this.

Ah-Ra cringed when regally glossed lips delivered a deadly smirk. That hurt. For a moment, Ah-Ra seemed pitiable, and the sticky grains of rice stuck here and there added to the fact. However, Ah-Ra was not reputable for backing down, especially after someone taunted her aim. This called for reinforcements. So she braced her heart, and decided today's competition was not to cook the best dish of rice, it was to get the last word against the amethyst-eyed antagonizer. What contributed the most to Ah-Ra's decision was not her comments on her aim, or being a Noble. In fact, it was what she did next. The ebony-haired girl simply went back to work. Was Ah-Ra simply not worth her time? Regardless of whether it was intentional or not, it was a direct aim to Ah-Ra's pride. And she'd get revenge, preferably physically. Another stupid and thoughtless decision, but this was Ah-Ra.
In front of her lay dozens of ingredients besides rice. Dried seaweed, sliced ham, chopped radishes, dashed green peppers, and the cooled-rice drink. Clutching handfuls of a mixture of ingredients in her hand, she flung them in the direction of Van, and the girl was right, she had terrible hand-eye coordination. Several peppers hit the Legion judges, one in the eye, another on the back. The ham fell on the heads of the Noble judges, in all their meaty wet glory. Only the seaweed and a handful of icecubes had actually hit the intended target. But now the competition was not personal. It had become a full-blown war. Too late for regrets now, and nobody could have that much patience to simply ignore something of this magnitude. Right?
