Josh had the day off. It wasn't often that Chuck felt obliged to give the boy a break, but it made the recreational time all the sweeter. He often times loved to get lost out in the wild, knowing that he's not truly lost, if he just tunes in to his internal compass. But the best part is not listening to himself, and just letting go.
So wandering he does do, and off he goes, his feet doing the leading. His thick tail swishing behind him for balance, and he stretches his wings as often times he isn't allowed to do. Chuck gives him hell for his differences. Josh thinks it might be that it draws attention, and Chuck has made a life by not being seen. Still, it stings a little to have to hide who he is.
Josh is donning his full armour, and a light jacket, for spring has not yet fully settled in, and the sunlight is unpredictable between the trees. He is approaching a clearing, he realizes, and he pushes out into the full sunlight, breathing in and smiling as he emerges.

"Hah!" the red-haired teenage girl yelled, flipping out of the way of her friend's clone's punch, before punching it in the neck to vanish it. "Is that the best you can do, Ava?" a younger black-and-white-eyed girl inquired, sounding bored from her tree branch perch. AvalonGirl smiled and simply touched the button on her bracelet, leading way to a electric-tipped metal whip and a gauntlet. "Awww, come on," the smaller girl pouted, whipping her hands through a series of hand seals and exhaling a fire dragon, before extinguishing it in surprise as the draconian boy entered the clearing. "Oh, hello," Serafina said nicely.
(If this had been an anime, both girls would have had sweatdrops. Getting caught training wasn't often, and was a bit pathetic, given that they'd honed their level of senses incredibly high.)

Josh is equally as embarrassed, especially as he's in the odd position of stretching and walking in on two girls fighting, or training, or whatever he can deduce that they were doing. He instantly goes red, starting with the ears and quickly flushing his face. He drops his arms quickly to a more normal stance.
"Er, uh.." he stammers, looking from one to the other. "Sorry. I, I didn't know someone was out here, and.. were you two training?" Interest leaks into his voice at the end of his babbling.

"Yep," AvalonGirl smiled, "we were training. We're actually from another universe, so it helps to keep our skills sharp for the times we go back..."
Serafina held her hand over a slight cut, watching the green glow travel from her hand to the deep scratch, sealing it up. She still wasn't great at using medic skills, but training provided training for these as well...

".. wait, what?" Josh looks absolutely perplexed. Another universe? "Er, uh, care to explain how that works?"
He leans awkwardly onto a tree nearest the clearing, deciding on not getting any closer to these fighting chicks til he knows better. Always stay on guard, always be ready to defend. However, he doesn't want to come off as threatening, so he changes his stance to somewhat of a casual lean. All of this just translates to something of an awkward preteen not yet used to his body who is trying to pass as cool and collected.. and failing at it.

"I dunno," AvalonGirl shrugged back. "Fell through a portal one day with Serafina here and ended up in Gaia. Come to think of it, that's how most of the people we live with ended up here; although one of them fell through a portal she created in a school project."
The weapons retracted into hammerspace, leaving the two girls weaponless (but certainly not defenseless, never defenseless), and Serafina hung upside down from a tree ranch, running her hands through her immense amount of hair.
