These Standards of Behavior apply to ALL members of this guild.

The Warning System
You will be given three chances in this guild. But the punishments for each offense will be exponential.

These warnings are given for single cases (and occasionally single posts) each. Posting in three separate places with three separate post topics that all break the rules may be considered grounds for three full warnings, depending on the severity. Excessive rule breaking, however minor, within a one-day period, is grounds for banning.

Do keep in mind that once you have been told to stop, every offensive post or action made after that order is counted as a warning.

One Warning: This warning is considered ACTIVE for one (1) month. After that time it remains on the record for stacking purposes for a further five (5) months, but after a six (6) month period it is stricken from the record entirely, assuming you have maintained PERFECT behavior (which is defined as not breaking or coming close to breaking any of these rules). Any person with one warning ACTIVE is not able to be considered for a promotion of ANY kind, whether or not that promotion would involve crew status. A promotion to crew requires that you have maintained perfect behavior for a minimum of three (3) months, although it may be decided that the entire six month period be observed prior to promotion. Crew with one warning will have their crew powers revoked for one week.

Two Warnings: These warnings are treated as two one warning slaps, and will remain active for two months, after which time they are subject to the same removal as described for one warning. Any person with two warnings is unable to be promoted, regardless of the promotion, until they have a clean slate, and will be constantly watched. Crew with two warnings will have their crew powers revoked for two weeks. As with before, these warnings will be taken off of active status after a time (two months), but will remain for stacking purposes for six months.

Three Warnings: Any person who merits three warnings within a two month period will be demoted one rank. This means that regular members will be banned, and crew will be removed from their crew positions. Captain's may still redeem themselves should they have their crew status revoked, provided they maintain perfect behavior for one month. But if they break a single rule, conduct or otherwise, or if they attempt to use crew powers during the allotted time, they will be stripped of their position. Depending on the severity of the abuse, they may also be banned.

Warnings stack, obviously, and will reset the time it takes for them to be stricken for the record. This means that two one-warning slaps are treated as if you were given a two warning slap, with the time limit started at the time of the second warning.

One Warning Offenses
  • Be polite and respectful to everyone, no matter who they are, even if you do not agree with them.

  • Don't be snide, or lace your comments with condescending innuendo. If you have an issue with something, say it plainly, or not at all.

  • English is the primary language of this guild. Do not make entire posts that are in separate language.

  • Learning Disabilities are NOT an excuse. There have been multiple people in this guild who have had LDs and been fine. Don't use them as a crutch, and don't use them as an excuse to be rude to people.

  • Respect comes from you FIRST. Do not expect everyone to respect you, unless you are prepared to be respectful to everyone.

  • There is no such thing as "an eye for an eye" here. If you are being disrespected, that does not give you the right to lash out in a similar fashion. This ties back to being respectful at all times. You may let the offending person know that they are being offensive, but if you react with animosity you will both be punished equally.

  • If your character is being mean in a roleplay thread, that is one thing. But if your posts in OOC threads, not just the ones in the OOC forum, take on that same mean and abusive tone, then there is a problem, and you need to fix it.

  • Do not read into the "tone" of a post. If you are uncertain as to the meaning of something, ask. Those who constantly assume that someone is being condescending without explicit proof will be given a warning.

Two Warning Offenses
  • Should you have a personal problem with someone, resolve it in a PRIVATE manner, meaning in a PM, or on some kind of IM program. Do NOT bring those problems into this guild, and especially not into In Character interactions.

  • Do not EVER bring a personal attack against someone. I don't care if you are so pissed off that you want to punch your mother, if you make an argument personal you will get a two-warning slap faster than you can blink. Making something personal is defined as: Attacking someone verbally in a manner that is direct at: 1.) Their character (not roleplay), 2.) Their personal lives, 3.) Their Lifestyle choices, 4.) Anything that is not directly relative to the topic, and which is said in a manner that is meant to flame or otherwise insult someone directly.

  • Do not act like a mod if you are not one. I don't care if you've been here since the dawn of time, only mods have the power to discipline. Members MUST act like a member, period.

  • Do NOT overstep your boundaries. If you are a Vice Captain, don't act like a god or the Captain. If you are a third seat, don't act like a Vice Captain or above, and so on. Individuals found to be blatantly stepping outside of their roles will be given a two warning slap. [MINOR offenses will only merit one warning].

Understand that this guild is for having fun, first and primarily. If you cannot have fun here, you will be shown the door.

Also, if you cannot follow these simple guidelines on how to be respectful, then I suggest you resign from this guild.
