name: david charles stetson stage: child likes: money, tea and sandwiches, interesting clothing, interesting people, colourful things, adventure, and having attention paid to him. dislikes: being overlooked, having things taken away from him, standing still, not having anyone to talk to, and fights. personality: David always means well. No matter what he does, he manages to convince itself it's the right thing, but when he chooses to do something he tends to focus solely on the benefits that come with it and ignore the negative risks that are involved in getting it. He can be singleminded, especially when it comes to money, since that was what saved him in his past life and he's never really felt comfortable without some on him since.
Other than his fears tied to his past life though, he tends to be optimistic, both about people, and how his plans will pan out for him. However, he considers himself to be a realist, which often creates problems for him, since he creates and imagines situations that would only work in ideal or near-ideal settings and thinks they're realistically accomplishable. He tends to be naive about people too. David is of the opinion that if he scratches their back, they'll scratch his, but fails to comprehend the fact that not everyone has similar agendas and ideals as him. He also fails to take into account that outside factors could tempt people not to uphold their duties to him, and so when someone betrays him, it catches him by surprise and he handles it poorly. He has difficulty understanding how people work, not just other people, but how he works as well. This can have terrible consequences, as David is very straightforward and blunt about everything that comes to his mind, and when people react poorly to his lack of a mental filter, he simply can't imagine why.
David also tends to be vaguely possessive. His things are his things, and his people are his people, and when either is threatened, he sort of puffs up his chest and attempts to swagger off the threat like an angry pigeon. It's sort of comical, and when he's out-swaggered, he backs off, but he'll always try again later if he sees an opportunity, or at least brood over what he considers to be his from afar. However, he has a sense of humour about it, which is pervasive in everything he does. David is able to laugh at his situations and has a witty comeback to almost everything, partially due to his own disposition, and the influence of his father, Evan.

name: banderfy madigan crime: war profiteering age: 35 likes: pretty girls (possibly in very wet dresses), rainy weather, idealistic new forms of government, positive attention, sleeping in, tea, getting away with things. dislikes: actual work, confrontation, getting wounded for the motherland, getting up early, and being dirty. history: When the Civil War broke out on his home planet of Ker-Ol, Banderfy Madigan found himself in the military as a quartermaster for several regiments. He was in charge of rationed goods, standard military equipment, and weapons, and often skimmed some off the top to sell to the resistance for a price, convincing himself that it was to help overthrow the Queen's Army. He was really just looking after himself. It terrified him to think that if he was on the losing side of the war, he might end up broke and out of favour, or worse, dead, and both sides looked like they might win. So he tried to be on both sides of the war at once, all the while making a tidy profit from it, which he saved to get him out of a scrape if he needed it later. For a while it worked. Both sides employed him and considered him an ally. However, eventually double agents infiltrated the resistance and managed to trace the steady flow of weapons and equipment the resistance was receiving to Banderfy and several other suppliers, all of whom were sentenced to either death or banishment, depending on the extent of their involvement in the opposition. Banderfy's money could only move officials to spare his life. He was not executed, but he was forced off his home planet and sent to be reformed in a new body on Gaia.

name: evan russell stetson age: 32 occupation: newspaper columnist personality: An easygoing and indolent man, Evan is the quiet, observational type. He's witty, and he tolerates people well even if he dislikes them, although he may discreetly tease them in the privacy of his own mind. He's a fatalist who tends to accept things as they come, which means that he lets David get away with a little more than he should. He's good with children, but maybe not so good at raising them. history: Evan Stetson has written three fairly obscure social commentary novels and is now comfortably situated in a position as the main columnist of a small local newspaper. He hails from a small town south of Barton, and is ostensibly the most famous person to come from there, which isn't saying much. He settled down in the Barton suburbs after completing college, and decided to adopt a former interplanetary criminal out of a sense of societal obligation, and only after accepting the fact that he wasn't really suited for the 'married with children' life anyway. He treats David like a little lodger in his home, and talks to him as if he were a slightly whimsical, somewhat stunted adult. Currently he's working on a new novel that he hopes to be finished by December, with creative adjustments by his son.
