Physical Description:
Atley is very upright in his stature, not really caring about his below average height. He is not the most muscular person out there, but he is not sickly-looking either. With short, almost military cut, white hair it is impossible not to see his dull green eyes beneath. Slightly wrinkled facial features indicate his chronological seniority, accented with sharp features like his pointed nose and clean shaven face.

Atley's attire reflects heavily upon his European lineage. While the majority of his clothing retains the signature black and white colors of the shinigami uniform there is very little comparison to be had. He wears a white tunic top and black under-coat over a light heather gray turtleneck sweater. The sweater itself conceals a reinforced-leather gorget Atley wears, retaining the hide's natural color. His trousers are a whitish color and are tucked into black, knee-high riding boots he wears at all times when out in public. His captain's haori is the only article of clothing that retains itself Japanese style, being long-sleeved and covering his arms almost all the way to his fingers.


Personality:
Atley has a very noble air about him even though he is not from any noble house. His views are very traditional in the sense that he views the duty to the Seireitei overrides all else, even his own personal agenda. These traditionalist views extend to include things like wealth and mannerisms. While polite to superiors and individuals holding the same rank as himself, he is usually seen holding an air or slight superiority over his subordinates because of his rank and age. He will not hesitate to reprimand a lower seated member on the premise of principle. This is usually through words as he views physical punishment as a last resort outside of duels and other sportsmanship-related activities. He is kind, if you show respect, and will often come to the aid of those he sees as being under his "wing of protection". Always the one for politeness, Atley greatly frowns upon vulgarities in any form, including innuendos of any kind.

He is also slightly sexist towards other males and will usually soften around female members of any squad, showering them with positive comments and idle chatter. He does not believe females should take up, regardless of their standing. In his eyes women could exude power without degrading themselves through outlets such as physical confrontation. He does not reject such behavior outright, but will tend to persuade against it from happening.


During battles, he becomes introverted, focusing on the fight in a detached way and only commenting in a reactionary fashion, seeing snide comments and such unbecoming of a fighter.

History:
Atley's life spanned much of the later centuries of the European Renaissance. Born into an upper middle-class family he was able to freely enjoy the early years of his life as the son of a little known, but much loved sword smith. Many of his years as an apprentice sword smith were spent working as a courier for his father, traveling throughout Europe to supply his father's clients with elegantly study weapons. Eventually succeeding his father in the craft he married the woman he loved. After several failed attempts to conceive he was gifted with a son. He loved him with all his heart and brought him up as heir to his now well-established craft, bringing him into the workshop even at an early age to watch Atley make swords.

The years were good to him, eventually feeling comfortable enough to leave his son to work by himself to spend time with his wife who had become sick from an unknown illness. Eventually, he spent his every waking moments helping support his wife do anything. But it was all for naught. With just his son left, he tried to make the most of what life still bore him and threw himself into the craft of sword making once again.

His practice became so prosperous at one point he was able to open up a second smith in a neighboring village, allowing his son to take on the already well established smith while he moved out to take care of the new smith. But fate was a cruel beast. His son was killed during a furnace explosion, destroying everything of the first smith and burning down almost half the village.

Atley was lost. He just quit, right there and then. Stopped working, stopped seeing new customers, stopped eating, stopped sleeping. He was a mess, there was nothing left for him after his wife died, but his son and now he was gone. It was truly the tipping point. So, he just wasted away in his shop, drinking himself to sleep at night to stop the pain. Eventually he just went to sleep and never woke up.

The Zanpakutō
"Our whispers will silence your roars...

Zanpakutō Name:
Eishou (詠唱, Aria)

Appearance:
Eishou, oddly enough, looks very akin to a woman from the Victorian Era, but pale in complexion, as if she were an albino. Standing at just a little under 5'7" she has a striking resemblance to Marie Antoinette and appears to be in her late 20's. She wears heavy make-up in blacks and looks as if she has recently cried seeing as her eyeliner/shadow is seen running down her face at all times. She carries a fan with her, using it in a flirtatious way as well as to cover up the extremely hideous scar that covers the entire circumference of her neck as if she lost her head and then had it sewn back on.

Personality:
Eishou is very jealous of other women and becomes rather peeved even when Atley is simply conversing with them. She demands his attention at all times around other women, often speaking provocatively to him or simply just whining that he is "ignoring her to talk to some putain instead". In rare cases even she has refused to come out of her sealed form unless he were to recite her a love poem.

Regardless of this she seems rather infatuated with him, often calling him her "dear Chevalier" or "Amante". Atley also seems to give her his own pet name, often calling her his "Little Eishou" when she is mad at him or when he enjoys something she has done for him.

Inner World:
Eishou's inner sanctum looks like an old, worn down opera house. Several holes in the roof lets sunlight and the elements pour in unobstructed, and dust can be seen floating all throughout the building. Only the stage looks like it has been refurbished and several pieces of furniture adorn it including a bed, vanity, and armoire. All are made of an ivory white material, a stark contrast to the deep cherry wood that makes up the redone stage. The curtains of the stage and bed linens, however, match in a vibrant color shock of crimson and velvet.

Eishou can usually be found sitting in front of the vanity doing her make-up, laying lazily on the bed, looking through an empty armoire for new clothes, or dancing about the stage; and imagining Atley is leading her in a waltz of some sort.

Sealed Form:
Eishou takes the form of a stainless steel katzbalger with black leather wrapped around the tsuka just short of the pommel.

Shikai Blade Type: Double Head Battle Axe

Eishou becomes a double-bladed axe, but with a very defining addition to the head. With a 3' handle it looks like an over-sized tuning fork with two thick metal prongs forking out of the hilt. The axe blades are situated on the outside edges. The entire weapon itself measures just over 4' long, from the pommel to the end of the tuning forks, and is made of a strong metal substance of unknown origins. A dark, natural leather covers the handle, protecting Atley's hands from the intense vibrations caused by the weapon.

Abilities:

[1] Kaminari Todoroki (雷とどろき, Thunder Roar)
Type: Offensive/Counter-offensive/Passive
Incantation: None

When Eishou makes contact with any surface a loud clanging can be heard like a loud, sustained bell tower ring. This attack's strength varies with the proximity to an opponent. Not only does it attack an opponent's hearing, but the vibrations of the axe transfer over to the opponent's weapon and can inadvertently make their hands numb and unable to hold their weapon.

[2] Namazu no Jiyuu (ナマズの自由, Freedom of Namazu)
Type: Offensive/Activated
Incantation: Verbal Callout, shortened to just "Namazu"

Eishou is sunk into the earth with great force, causing the blade to vibrate inside the soil and create massive seismic waves. These waves cause the earth crumble and explode outward in a triangular shape from where the attack originated.

[3] Demando Ga Takai Chinmoku (デマンドが高い沈黙, Demanding Silence)
Type: Offensive/Sustained
Incantation: Verbal Callout

Atley presents this through a statement, saying "M'lady wishes to speak with you." This is directed at one individual. Once these words are spoken, Atley taps the pommel of his shikai on the ground twice; and the affected individual's hearing becomes super heightened, registering triple its normal volume. All sounds are increased for a period of 4 posts with a 1 post cool down.

Bankai:

Shizuka Na Eishou (静かな詠唱, Silent Aria)

Callout Command:
"Turn it up, please, my dear, Shizuka Na Eishou. Bankai!"

Bankai Appearance:

Eishou explodes into bright specks of light and surrounds Atley, clinging to his body as his clothes seem to shed and disappear. As the light clears you can see that his clothing as been replaced with old wraps covering the majority of his being. A set of stainless steel armor also covers him as well as very forgiving loincloth that reaches to just above his knees.

His head is covered in a great helm similar to this but with a small speaker-like protrusion right over his mouth would be. Though the helm has no defining lines to indicate there is any way for him to see out from it the entire front actually uses a one-way mirror trick, giving him an unobstructed view of his surroundings.

Upon his arms he wears a pair of cesti, ancient gauntlets used in hand-to-hand combat that cover a portion of the hand as well as the forearm. Again one can see a small speaker-like protrusion upon each forearm.

Greaves are situated neatly on his lower legs, covering the entirety of his shins with small sectioned pieces loosely lay upon the top of his foot just past the ankle. The small speaker-like protrusion is located just below the knee, giving Atley the ability to strike with the knob while leaving the protrusion unharmed.

And, finally, a breastplate adorns his torso, covering it completely, but giving him enough flexibility to move about. This is due to the lower half being a separate section with the chest portion sitting just over it to allow an almost fluid range of motion. The speaker-like protrusion is located in the center of the sternum. The loincloth attaches to the lower portion of the armor, taking a whitish color.

Bankai Abilities:

[1] Muchitsujo no Chinmoku (無秩序の沈黙, Chaotic Silence)
Type: Offensive/Field/Passive
Incantation: None

Demando Ga Takai Chinmoku in its true form. As soon as Atley enters into bankai this mode becomes active. All sounds within a 15 meter radius register as muffled/muted background noise to all within the affected area beside Atley. Instead sound from inside the body, such as breathing and heartbeat, is amplified twice its normal volume.

[2] Ningen no Kane (人間の鐘, Human Bell)
Type: Counter-Offensive/Activated
Incantation: Mental Callout

Whenever the opponent strikes a piece of Atley's armor it rings loudly, regardless if metal made contact with it or not. It only affects those in close proximity of Atley. This coupled with Muchitsujo no Chinmoku can cause the opponent to experience severe headaches and dizziness.

[3] Kajiya no Kin Shiki (鍛治屋の金敷, Blacksmith's Anvil)
Type: Offensive/Defensive/Activated
Incantation: Mental Callout

Like Ningen no Kane, Kajiya no Kin Shiki is activated when an opponent strikes Atley's armor. However, unlike Ningen no Kane, the armor vibrates deeper, either nullifying physical strikes or adding a solid power behind Atley's own strikes. Only physical attacks can be voided using this technique and they must be less to Atley's own strength. Anything greater and this attack can only be used to cushion the force, and relieve a minimal portion of the damage.

[4] Yumi (弓, Kneel)
Type: Offensive
Incantation: Verbal Callout

Atley chops at the air in a slightly downward way, forcefully saying "Yumi" as his voice is projected towards individuals in the direction he slices. A single high-pitched chirp is emitted with his voice, quickly overloading the victim(s)' auditory system and causing them to experience a sense of vertigo; and become off-balanced, falling to the floor.

[5] Oto no Kabe (音の壁, Wall of Sound)
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Incantation: Verbal Callout

Atley claps his hands and says the command, causing a literal wall of sound to emerge and cone outwards. This attack, if done in extreme proximity, can cause internal injuries of varying degrees or simply push an opponent backward and away from Atley.

  • Immense Strength:

    Due to constantly training and fighting through many stages of his life, Atley shows great prowess in the exertion of physical strength. A single punch can level a several story building or destroy the mask of a Gillian-class menos with relative ease. He is also able to lift several tons with little strain to himself.

  • Immense Durability:

    Atley can take several life-threatening blows with little recognition for their existence. While not entering a tunnel vision-like state as some do he can simply ignore them by shear tenacity and stubbornness. Brawling is where he absolutely dominates though, able to be repeatedly beaten down and still hold out past his opponent's stamina, resulting in most of his teeth being replaced at least once or twice throughout his stay in the Soul Society. Either way, he is definitely a force to be reckoned with in any form of physical combat.

  • Immense Endurance:

    Age has nothing to do with Atley's endurance. He is able to train/fight almost days on end with little more than 4 hours of sleep. Likewise he can last for several hours without even being visibly tiring. When Atley hikes it is usually for at least a week, notably enjoying the strenuous pace as well as the scenery.

  • Immense Spiritual Power:

    As a Captain, Atley possess a great amount of spiritual energy. Unlike most captains though, he does not outwardly express his pressure when releasing energies. Instead it creates a bottle-effect, being stored within his body and only showing from a short distance from his own skin when released. Atley shows great skill in manipulating his reiyoku, able to freely harness it as a weapon without straining himself whatsoever.

    - Damage Resistance:

    He can also use it like armor, making it impossible for those below his skill level to do anything more than scratch his outermost layer of skin. His skin enhanced by his spiritual power is comparable to an Arrancar's hierro.

    - Audio Imagery:

    When released his body seems to give off a slight humming sound. This sound can only be heard if one focuses or loses their hearing, which it then registers as a slight tingling feeling in the back of one's mind. It is constant, but does not coincide with his zanpakuto's own audio-sensory abilities.

  • Master Hand-to-Hand Specialist:

    Getting close to the enemy to the point of making them terrifyingly uncomfortable it is here where Atley holds no equal. His style is not typical of the Asian motif, stemming from an ancient form of martial arts first invented by the Greeks called Pankration. It is what some would call the precursor to modern mixed martial arts, combining both boxing and wrestling in a no-holds bar way many would consider overtly brutal by today's standards.

  • Expert Swordsmanship Specialist:

    Atley was grew up around swords. It was his life's calling to make them so, naturally he would be able to retain some memories of how to wield them with a practiced hand. While he is not the most offensive type outside of heavy swings, he excels greatly in the field of counter attack, able to destroy almost all physical advantages his opponent may have had with just a few slight-of-hand movements.

  • Kido Practioner:

    Atley despises kido. It makes him feel weak when he even has to call on the power of the lower level spells to gain an edge, so he only rarely uses kido if ever.

  • Air Walk:

    Considering his captain's status Atley can freely use this ability wherever and whenever he wishes to for long periods of time. While not always exposing this ability to its full potential he can manipulate his walking pattern however he chooses with very little strain to himself.

Description
Pushes the target away from the caster.

Hadō #2: Beniikazuchi (Crimson Thunder)

Description
A beam of deep red lightning is blasted from the user's pointing finger towards the enemy. It's intention is to make so much noise, that it breaks the enemy's orientation. Its strike is not very strong but the impact can make superficial bruises. It's a good Hadō for initiates.

Hadō #4: Byakurai (白雷, White Lightning)

Fires a concentrated bolt of lightning from the caster's forefinger.

Hadō #5: Kūkū no Akuryoku (空空 の 握力, Grip of the Void)

This art creates a short-lived bubble of nothingness around its target, causing weak spirits to explode. Stronger beings are not affected at all.

Hadō #8: Kutsūnomaru (苦痛 の 丸, Circle of Pain)

This art creates a shining circle of yellow around the feets of the target, destroying very weak spirits instantly, causing great pain to spirits up to lower medium power and causing light discomfort to anything stronger.


Bakudō

Bakudō #1: Sai (塞, Restrain)
Descritption
Locks a target's arms in place behind their back.

Bakudō #2: Kabe (壁, Wall)
Description
This spell erects a wall of spiritual energy in front of its target. It is neither high nor wide though, so most spirits, Hollows and Shinigami are just able to jump over it or go around it.

Bakudō #4: Hainawa (這縄, Crawling Rope)
Description
An energy rope entangles a target's arms.

Bakudō #7: Gaman no Fuuin (我慢の封印, Seal of Patience)
Description
When invoked, the seal creates a white mark on the casters right palm. When this mark is touched to a living being, the mark is transferred to it's body and turns black. From that moment, the flesh touched by the mark becomes rooted to that location in space, relative to the earth. What this means is that the part of the body that bears the mark cannot be moved from that location without being forcefully removed from the body. And even if that is done, it will continue to float there until the spell is released. While it's low rank is due to the extremely low amount of spiritual power required to activate, the spell itself is actually quite complicated and difficult to pull off properly. For this reason, most Shingami pass it up for other sealing spells that are just as effective for far less hassle.

Bakudō #8: Seki (斥, Repulse)
Description
Creates a round shield that seems to temporarily paralyze and repel whatever strikes it.

Bakudō #9: Geki (撃, Strike)
Description
Engulfs a target in red light, completely paralyzing them.

Zanjutsu Zanpakutō - 9/10
"Has complete mastery of his/her Zanpakutō. Is able to use virtually every aspect of his/her Zanpakutō for offensive and defensive purposes, can also use unorthodox methods of fighting with his Zanpakutō. Mutual trust is formed, Shikai and Bankai."

"Air Walking can be done even when upside-down, in relation to the ground. Dashing can be done at near Shunpo level speed. Shunpo is often times used in combination with Air Walking and Dashing. Senka is mastered, but the Zanjutsu requirement is still present, and the Shinigami can perform the elusive Utsusemi, provided his/her Agility points are maxed out. Shunko can be done as well; if the Shinigami has at least has 6-8 Kidō points."

Hakudo Grappler - 10/10
"The Shinigami transcends human levels when it comes to speed and strength. Kicks and punches can become blurred and grapples can come out of nowhere. Can perform holds and strangles, parries, and counter-attacks "

Reiatsu Iron - 9/10
"Reiatsu is given off consciously, and can therefore be controlled. The full scope of the Reiatsu can be felt over large areas, sometimes across an area the size of Seireitei. Here the Reiatsu interferes with the physical functions of fairly low-level opponents. Improves defensive capabilities, can withstand an Adjuchas cero."
