So I know this happened a long time ago. In 1993. There were three teenagers convicted of murdering three children. I believe they were 8, 8 and 9. There was absolutely no evidence that the three that are in jail did it. All of the evidence points to the step dad. I just saw the documentary and wondered what everyone thinks abouts this obsurd case. Johnny Depp and one of the Dixie Chicks is supporting these three. They are trying to raise awareness about this unfair conviction.

Our justice system needs an over-haul, especially in the south.
This is why I hate the death penalty, I am sure we've murdered hundreds of innocent people via lethal injection and such.

Of course we have. Everything about our government is flawed towards benefits for the rich, the powerful, and the influential. In the south, everything is biased (and I say this as a southern-raised girl). It only makes it worse that everybody thinks teens are wasting their lives nowadays, and they don't have an opinion worth a flying green fudge. The day our government system realizes it's flawed is the day that pigs fly.

Well we know hell is going to be freezing over since the Saints won the Superbowl. Maybe pigs will be flying soon.

I'm familiar with what you are talking about. I was born and raised in Louisiana.

I definitly agree with you all. The south really does seem to just point and say "They did it, because look at the way they dress. They must be Satan worshippers." They are still very Baptist in the south. And both you and rmcdra know all about it. It's sad.

The American justice system has always been broken. But still, if all the evidence is pointing to someone else then how can they convict the kids? There's gotta be something more to it.

That's what I think too. Like a personal vendette against the three, but there hasn't been anything like that said. They interviewed the step-dad, but never asked something like "Why did these three do it?" or anything. There is no sense what-so-ever.

Here's something else that maybe points AWAY from them, if you choose to believe this:
There's a guy who profiles serial killers (he's talked to guys like Jeffrey Dalmher, Ted Bundy, the BTK killer, and other twisted murderers), and he interviewed the West Memphis three and said he doesn't think they're capable of murder, let alone the ones they're jailed for. That's a piece of proof as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, it's a vendetta because of other factors.
And now that I think about it, we had this same problem 91 years ago in Massachusetts. Apparently, some places never learn. Or they learn a lot slower.

FYI... all 3 were freed this morning. They all agreed to an Alford plea - which basically allows them to maintain their innocence, but admit that the defense likely has enough evidence to convict. It's not an ideal situation, but it means that they don't have to be in jail anymore, and the case is basically closed.

I just heard. That is good that they're at least free
