The observation deck was in itself not much to behold, as it was little more than a small cramped space with windows, tucked away in the underbelly of the ship, once used as a gallery of photos from his home on Ares and pictures from his mission to Earth, which ultimately resulted in disaster.
He had only visited the room four times since the then, the pictures had been oddly blurred and were difficult to make out, but he knew that seeing the photos of him and his ex-fiance would be incredibly painful for him, because couldn't put a name or face to the woman he once loved it made it much easier for him to forget.

Now however, the room was empty, save for the pilot himself and several photographs of the Earth he'd of taken before they left, though he wouldn't remember doing so. Looking from one picture to the next, the pilot cracked a small smile before reaching a panel on the roof, which flicked into life as a holographic monitor linked to the ship's computer mainframe.
"Right, let's see the damage then." He tapped the hard-light screen to run a damage diagnostic, a report came back instantly, showing that the ship was still working properly, with little or no damage to speak of.

"Hmm... Somehow I find that hard to believe." The pilot rubbed his chin, then set the computer to scan the ship for life-signs, in order to locate Koko. As the results came though, the sound of Koko's laughter was picked up by one of the ship's intercom microphones, which must of been left on.
"Cargobay." He repeated to himself after viewing the result of the scan, then heading up the ladder from the observation deck through the lower decks then to the cargo-bay to find Koko smiling whilst surrounded by pieces scrap metal.
"You alright there Koko?" Zed leant against the door-frame between the main corridor and the cargo-bay, still holding the bandage to his head.

By the time Zed reached the cargo bay, Koko had somewhat composed herself. Her face still looked a little red from where she'd been crying, but she was no longer gripped within a series of intense emotions; thus, as she turned towards the pilot, she allowed a small, lop-sided grin to appear on her features.
"I hope I didn't cause that."
she stated, indicating the bandage he was holding against his head and thus whatever wound lay beneath. With a small sigh she looked around herself at the various pieces of damaged metal before murmuring (more to herself than anyone in particular).
"I've really gotta work on this violent anger thing..."
With another sigh she placed her hands lightly on her knees and pushed herself to her feet, brushing any dust or small metal shards off her clothes once she was up.

After taking another glance around the cargo bay - to make sure she hadn't left anything too dangerous laying around - she began to walk slowly towards the doorway, picking her way through the metal. When she passed Zed, the female mercenary gently laid a hand on his shoulder, talking quietly.
"Look Zed, I'm not really sure what happened yesterday, but I'm reckonin' ya don't remember either. Now, I've got a list of things I've gotta do on this ship as long as my arm so I figure now's as good'a time as any to get some of it done. If I don't go lookin' for ya, I would recommend not disturbin' me..."
She drops her hand, takes a few steps away, then half-turns and looks over her shoulder at Zed again,
"Unless o'course it's life or death, or we've landed. I've got some things to work out... oh and I'll clean that up later."
With that she began walking towards the crew's quarters, planning to think things through while she was working. She often found she would figure out her problems more quickly and effectively when she was physically doing something, as opposed to simply sat doing nowt.

First on the list was to fix the lighting in the crew's quarters; half the lights didn't work and of those that did, nearly half of them flickered when they turned on. She figured it was mostly due to loose connections, but she'd have to remove the panels and have a look to be sure (though a few she knew were damaged, she'd seen a couple of smashed lights). After that she planned to see to the cooker she'd found on one of her walks about the Aiolos. One thing she really wanted to be able to do, was cook a good meal aboard the ship. At that moment her stomach rumbled, indicating she hadn't eaten much for a while, had she eaten anything yesterday? Another stomach rumble. Well, seemed that wasn't likely then. Koko ran a hand through her hair, deciding she was going to have something decent once she'd fixed those lights.

The next few days Koko and Zed got on with maintenance and repairs, fixing various non-critical systems that had been damaged in the crash as well as clearing up the remaining debris. The majority of the damage was external; the stabilizing wings were in a sorry shape, they wouldn't be able to re-enter the Ares atmosphere properly without having the ship turn into a very expensive meteorite fireball of death.

Zed sat in the cockpit with his bare feet up on the dash wondering how the hell he'd land the ship when they got back; the image of the ship's core on one of the monitors flashing with warning signs as several graphs danced across the screen, clearly miles above all the safe limits. To a technician, the Aiolos' core would be diagnosed as going 'Super critical' and seconds from a catastrophic failure, Zed however, had learnt to ignore the warnings as the prototype ship's computer systems were never designed to deal with the amount of space-time distortion that the ship was routinely subjected to. Who'd of thought faster than light travel would be so tough?

The pilot's attention turned to Koko as she finished work on one of the desks behind him, closing up several panels on the navigation terminal after repairing some faulty wiring. Koko stood triumphantly in front of the terminal, which flickered back into life after a few seconds.

"How are you holding up?" The pilot said as he lowered his feet from the dash, having been unaware of Koko's presence behind him until now.
