I've seen the Korean horror flick The Ghost, and its Korean title is 령 (ryung / ryeong). At first I was all like, "but wait, I thought gwishin meant ghost." Then, I figured that they could be synonyms, since there are multiple words for ghost in English (spirit, phantom, apparition, etc.).
Now I want to know if, perhaps, 령 refers to a specific kind of ghost. Since the movie dealt with a female ghost that had been betrayed/murdered/drowned, I currently operate under the assumption that 령 means that sort of ghost.
Am I correct?
