What are your opinions on how thing were or are taught at the schools you have attended? Specifically, what do you think should be changed in school systems?

I think English classes in elementary school should focus more on spelling and grammar than they do. I had very few lessons on grammar, and spelling ended in grade four, for me. My grade six teacher gave spelling lessons by request of our class, though.

I also think Art classes in elementary schools shouldn't just teach perspective, but methods of creating works of art. Composition and the like. This would help close in the gap between grade eight art classes and high school art courses.

Thank you for your time. (:

1:Where I'm from Christianity is a regular class until 5th grade.

You are allowed to skip it if you have permission from your parents because you follow another religion, but seriously?
Wouldn't more language, math or science classes be a better idea?
Let religion happen outside school.

2: Let me choose my second foreign language.
I realize that it's easier with standardized courses, but wouldn't people who speak a variety of languages be better?
I realize I can choose my third, and at the time I start learning my first I'm too young to understand the importance, but the second would be nice too.

I agree. Religion being brought into schools isn't the best idea. If any religion is taught, it should be unbiased studies and comparisons of religions. You have to remember, though, that sometimes religion is close to the base of a country, or tradition that won't be removed for a long time.

Usually the second language you're taught is the one that you're most likely to use later in life. Spanish for the US because of how large the Spanish speaking population is, and French for Canada because that's the official second language. I think this system makes sense.

Religious study was a huge part of social studies, and I endorse it there.
I literally had Christianity as a class though; and the defence that it's an engrained part of my country is not true in the slightest, as state and church has been officially separated since 1241, (No, that is not a typo) and the practice is an archaic one started in the 1800's in "Latin schools" that was later copied by the public schools as to appear more dignified.

Notice I said my second "Foreign" language; my first was English (Of which I was never any good, as you can see), my second was German, I took Latin in 8th and 9th grade, and I'll be starting French next year. (Unless my luck turns even shittier, in which case it's Italian for me).

A 3rd:
Change the meeting times.
School Children, in my neck of the woods, are the only people who will ever get called in to office for being very late when they show up at 8.
This will also serve to unstress our poor teaching staff, as they no longer have to get up at 4, it's inhuman.

I actually want that to be a class.

If only one change can be made to the education system, this should be it.

@dixieboy: I didn't read that properly, thanks for pointing it out. In this case, I agree that the first and second languages should be chosen for students, but not the third. Unless, of course, it concerns a trilingual country. You should be able to choose complementary language courses.

@Buta no Kaabii: You want Religion to be a class? As in a non-biased world religions class? Sorry, I'm having a hard time discerning what you mean, there.

I definitely third changing school times. High school starts at 9:00 AM for me, and I think that's the perfect time. The earlier school starts, the more it messes with teenagers' sleep schedules while their internal clock is already off-rhythm.

I do think spelling and grammer should last all the way to 8th grade. So many people can't spell very well. I'm one of them. XD Our spelling at my school ended in grade 6, yet grammar and english never ended 'til graduation....

I also think P.E. should be more importand than longer lunch times considering how many obese children we have in the united states.
