With Gaia having a vast selection of eye and hair items, many of us choose to cover our default avatar settings using these.
I realized today I haven't used my default eyes for 58 consecutive avatars. They have ceased to be useful to me in building, but they're the only part of my Avatar that has never changed. I keep the same default eyes for sentimental reasons.
Do you try to cover your base? If so, what do you like to use?
Contacts? Masks? Wigs? Big hats? Skin items?
Which of these items is your favorite, and do you even like your base at all?

I really do like a lot of the eye items, but once they made it easier to change eye color and created more eye styles, I found myself using the default eyes more often. Some of them are quite pretty.
As far as hair goes, though, I have a little more trouble finding what I want. The colors and styles from the salon often feel a bit lacking for some reason, but then sometimes I find the wigs too overpowering for my avi. @_@

up until my last few avis I always used either demonic style, the oculus's or gimpi eyes. As for skin I stay natural normally but mainly because I don't have any full skin cover ups i like (except the captain arnesta skin). I normally just cover my sin with stockings and long sleeve undershirts. and my face with goggles, eye patches and my eye stripe tattoo :3
As for hair I buy them from the salon (because I'm too poor for the wigs i like T^T) or i wear a bald cap XD!
edit: oh right yumi's post reminds me i just bought the contacts because i love them >> now i just need to make an avi with them

I hardly ever use skins
and I use my default's about as often as I do wigs/contacts

I keep my defaults boring, like my hair is either black or white, and my eyes are usually dark.
I remeber thwew was time when I couldnt even tell you what my base was, because I never used it.
Now I'm into skin balance, and I used to completely cover myself like Rei, then I was in the AT, and this woman scolded me for doing that, and now I don't really like to cover myself completely anymore...
But I must say, I do love wigs.
and I mainley use oculus mythica, and EIs that come with eyes, oh, and I recently got into android contacts.
I use my base about as much as I use wigs and eye items.

omgaw I just remembered I got a hidden ace *0*! can't wait for that too be fully evolved so i have its eyes and wigs at my disposal heart heart
Froog: lol i used to show lots of skin on my avi's but I've been really into layering lately especially below the belt :3

I believe I use different contacts for eyes now.
You'll hardly ever see my avatar with it's original eyes. I like to use the eyes from Kuro's Induction and Reve Rouille.
As for skin, if it's necessary, I'll use either the white skin from Masterpieces or from the Padmavati Lotus.
I tend to keep my original hair most of the time. If not, I use the Drome Egg wigs and the wig from Kuro's Induction.

I like my base but I am also fond of the opal borealis eyes, oculus mythica, masterpieces skin, and the broken doll skin from uncanny form <3

I don't think I've used my default eyes since the Drome came out. Heh, knowing that, I should probably just find a weird default eye color that I can't replace with item pose eyes, just in case...
I kept using my silver Casual starter hair for longer after that, but then the Fallen Wish came out with a wig and the hair was never seen again. Mwah ha!

I've been using my hair more than I used to now that I have a cute hairstyle. I like this one more than my old one.
Back when I had horrible blue hair, I never wore wigs xD Wish I had.
