“I’ll be joining you as soon as I find a place to park the car, alright?” said Hazeline as she stopped before Kenth’s clinic.
“Alright,” chirped Joshua as he hopped out of the car. This was then followed by Xiu who gave Hazeline an affirmative nod. “I’ll look after him, Hazeline,” promised the white raevan as he took hold of Joshua’s hand firmly in his. “You can count on it,”
“I know I can,” said Hazeline with a smile before driving off in search of a parking space.
“Well then, shall we enter?” asked Xiu turning to Joshua. “Dr. Larine would be expecting you,”
“Dr. Larine is an old grumpy person,” said Joashua, suddenly in an argumentative mood. “And I don’t like shots,”
“I know you don’t. No one likes having a needle jabbed at them,” said Xiu and realized his folly. Joshua was giving him a look of a master strategist who’d just seen his opponent walk into his ploy.
“What is it, Joshua?” asked the white raevan wearily.
“Well…if I am going to get hurt…I’d need something to cheer me up, right?”
“I guess…,” said Xiu grudgingly.
“Awsome! I wanna comic book!” said Joshua gleefully.
“Hey, I didn-,”
“Or I shall throw a tantrum” said Joshua giving the white frei an ultimatum with devious delight. “And Hazeline will not like that,”
“No, she will not,” agreed Xiu with a frown and an irritated flick of his wings. “Alright, spill it Joshua, what do you want?”
“I want Comic Explosion volume 58 and 59,” said Joshua with a conspiratorial smile.
Xiu sighed. “And you’d promise to be good then?”
“Yes,” said Joshua the very picture of innocence. “I will,”
“Then you had better wait in the office, at least it’s safe there,” said the white frei ushering the young boy into the clinic. “I’ll be back as soon as I can,”
“Awsome,” said Joshua.
The minute the white frei left, the young boy immediately pulled out a portable game from one of his many baggy pockets and began playing it with the occasional whoop and cheer. One cheer however, was a little more enthusiastic than the rest and with a jump of victory (he had defeated Dungeon Master Destructor!) ; Joshua accidentally knocked a chair over.
“Whoops…”

Xuelian was told to stay in the room, like the usual. It was a working day for Kenth, so he would not be giving the Raevan most of his attention. This was not an unusual thing, however. Even though the doctor don't have patients often, she had gotten quite used to being alone in the room hidden behind Kenth's office. In addition, she had plenty to do now: Kenth had been nice enough to buy her books (children's books) and even ordered a TV set so she could watch shows whenever she felt bored.
But of course, the Raevan was never bored. Ever since the day she was born she was always feeling overwhelmed with knowledge. There was never enough time for her to absorb what she had learned from Kenth, so the times spent alone always ended up becoming self-review sessions where Xuelian repeated vocabularies learned from the doctor until her head hurt. It was a painful and frustrating process, knowing that she was not the smartest person--Raevan-- in the world. The reward of finally being able to grind the knowledge down in her brain was able to make up for the process however. After all, what could be more gratifying than seeing Kenth smile when she proudly used a word that she just learned, proving that she had gotten the information down?
So today was just like any other day. The Raevan floated back and forth across the room, absorbed in her efforts trying to remember what the doctor had taught her early in the morning and last night. Everything was going smoothly until footsteps were heard out in the lobby. The sound made Xuelian's ear perk up, which immediately broke her memorization process. She sighed, realizing the sound probably came from "patients", Kenth's customers. Even though Xuelian told herself to go back to her review session, she could not help but to wonder what the patients looked like. Kenth never allowed her out of the room when he was working, so this curiosity was never satisfied.
She waited for Kenth's usual greeting voice, after which she could resume memorizing. However, it never happened. There were two people in the room, all of which had voices unfamiliar to her. But Kenth's voice was not present. Where might he be? Xuelian vaguely recalled the doctor going out of the door, telling her that he had to work today, but he said nothing else about leaving the clinic. Feeling a little nervous, the Raevan inched to the door a little closer, putting her ears close to the panel to make sure that she had heard correctly. The two strangers were talking, Xuelian could only understood a portion of the words they said. Eventually one voice disappeared. The sound of the lobby doorbell made her believe that it was Kenth who had came in, but it wasn't. Instead, human voices were reduced into random noises and music that sounded like they were from TV shows. The Raevan winced, was there a TV in the lobby?
Just as she decided to let everything go and return to her studies, an unusually loud sound startled her. She let out a small yelp, finding herself "jumping" backwards as a chair was knocked over outside. This never happened before. Could it be that whoever was outside was trying to harm this place? Xuelian was more convinced of this thought due to Kenth's absence. What if the person outside was a bad person who hurt Kenth and came into the clinic to destroy everything? The Raevan shivered at the thought. She had witnessed many wonderful things in the world, yet Kenth warned her that there were bad and ugly things too. Could this be one of them? What if the bad person outside found her? What would he do?
Biting her lips, the Raevan decided that she must do something to stop the bad person outside. Kenth had told her to stay in the room no matter what, but this is an emergency! Slowly, she unlocked the door and floated out of her safe little corner. She peeked from Kenth's office into the lobby. There was a small figure, much smaller than Kenth, who seemed to be making noises. Leaning on one side of the wall that separated Kenth's office from the lobby, Xuelian poked her head out slightly. She must do something, but what?
"H-hello..?" The Raevan asked, finding her voice quivering.

Oh shoot, oh shoot, oh shoot!
He was in for it now! Joshua gave the fallen chair an almost apologetic glance. One of the rungs in the backrest had come loose due to the fall and now lay attached to the chair by a mere strand of glue. Joshua gulped. If anyone knew…
Gingerly the young boy lifted the broken chair and placed it in its original position. Then, with a look of utmost stealth, Joshua quietly slid the broken rung back in its place. There. All good. As long as no one leaned back, the chair was as good as new.
Puffing his chest with pride, the young boy took up his PSP once more and was about to resume his game when a timid “H-Hello...?” was heard.
“It wasn’t me! I did not do it! The chair was already broken!” yelled Joshua in the typical tried and tested method of kids everywhere. Spinning around, Joshua was all but ready to fall to his knees and beg for his life in front of the Doctor (who had by now taken an image of some terrible ogre) when he notice the being who spoke. It wasn’t the Doctor after all but a rather cute, if shy looking girl.
Being blessed with an attention span slightly better than a goldfish, Joshua waved at the being before him before placing his PSP into one of his pant’s pockets before heading over. Never once doubting that that girl was a human, Joshua smiled. She looked older than him but she seemed nice enough. Another patient perhaps?
“Errr…hey, I’d appreciate if you do not tell anyone about the chair…,” said Joshua in his best innocent looking expression. “I would not want to get into trouble…especially with the Doctor. He’s scary!”

She watched everything, everything including the broken chair and how the little guy put it back together. She could not tell, however, that Joshua merely had covered up the broken bits with his cleverness. In Xuelian's eyes the boy fixed the chair perfectly. This thought improved her thought on the intruder...but just by a little.
Obviously hearing her the boy turned and, to her surprise, immediately started a flurry of speech. It was in a language that she was learning, but he did it so fast that she could only make out a few words, not enough for her to understand what the boy was talking about. The suddenness scared her though, and Xuelian found herself shrinking back behind the door more, almost ready to run back to her little safe corner. But that wouldn't do her any good, if the intruder meant ill he'd hunt her down no matter what! If anything, she'd be regretting coming out in the first place...even if it's for the sake of her guardian.
But the boy fell quiet, and, was that a smile that she saw on his face? Kenth had told her about bad people, but he said nothing in regards to their smile. In the raevan's impression smile was always good, which could only mean the boy wasn't really a bad person at all. Then what was he doing here? Was he a patient? It would make sense, but Kenth wasn't here to treat him. In fact, she didn't even know where he was, which was why she came out in the first place. Wait! The boy mentioned "doctor" just now, and since doctor meant Kenth, could it be that he actually knew where Kenth was?
Slowly, Xuelian moved out from the office and floated into the lobby, moving closer to Joshua with caution. Disregarding what he said (since she didn't really understand them), she asked, this time finding her voice a bit louder and more stable.
"Doctor...where is Kens?"

Joshua watched as the shy being slowly floated out from the Doctor’s office and held his breath. As far as raevans go, this raevan seem to radiate and aura of feminity and (to an extend) helplessness and bewilderment. Already, the young boy could feel the seed of chivalry starting to bloom within him as the other approached with wide questioning eyes.
"Doctor...where is Kens?"
“Err…,” said Joshua looking stumped. Wasn’t the Doctor supposed to be in? He had an appointment after all. And what was this raevan doing here? And…why was she asking for Kenth? Unless…
“You are the Doctor’s raevan?” the young boy asked with a slightly horrified look. This was not good at all! She had probably seen him with the broken chair and the last thing Joshua wanted to do was to get shoved back into the frying pan after he had squirmed his way out of it.
With that in mind, the young boy quickly plotted. “Err…Kens must be…outside! Let’s go look for him!” said Joshua deviously pointing to the exit. Perhaps bringing her out and taking her for a short round about the block would make her forget about the broken chair and who knows, the Doctor might just be in by the time they returned. Oh, he was so clever~

"You know not...where is Kens?"
The dainty Raevan stumbled on her words with some difficulty. She was, after all, not a very bright Raevan and did not learn very fast about language. She did, however, understood what the boy was saying--well, roughly. There was no hint that the boy knew where the doctor went to. Xuelian sank her head down, a little disappointed that her question did not receive an answer. She was then confused by the sudden cheerfulness of the boy. If the Joshua was so positive about the situation, then he must have a clue after all?
Not knowing what Joshua really meant or what he was plotting, Xuelian nodded to whatever he said, following his pointed finger to the exit and---surely enough, there was someone there, someone she could not be more familiar with.
"Kens!"
At the sight of the doctor the Raevan immediately cheered up again, floating over to her guardian ever-so-eagerly. The white haired human, however, was not very happy to see her. In fact, there was an expression of shock on Kenth's face when he spotted his subject, then the shock turned to scorn as Xuelian floated over.
"I did not give you permission to leave your room." To Xuelian's excitement Kenth decided to pour a bucket of ice-cold water over on top. The unfortunate victim of his scold blinked, then shrank back, comprehending just from Kenth's expression that she had done something wrong. That's right, she wasn't allowed to leave her room, or, at least, she did not receive Kenth's permission to. But she had an explanation! Xuelian, in her path of retreating back to the back room, looked at Joshua, then returned a look at Kenth. There was no physical words, as the Raevan was not bold enough to raise an objection against her guardian. Kenth, however, already noticed Joshua's presence. The frown on his face did not disappear. If anything it deepened, as the doctor was not pleased at the random appearance of the boy.
"You are..." The reprimanding tone faded a little, replaced by strange formality.
