Not sure about steampunk, but definitely cool. Reminds me of Disney's Atlantis kind of tech. Like it could be an ancient cog with glyphs on them.

They're nordic compasses. See those markings? They're rune symbols. 3nodding Don't let that steer you away from your steampunk creativity you could do with the thing though.

i have a Wooden nordic compass necklace around somewhere (a replica anyway), they are really nice and fit in a lot (i wear a lot of things round my wrist normally, so i just wrap it round my arm a few times, plus it has two different coloured strings through it, so double wrappage!)
