Mani kept diligently seraching for the stone that she was charged with finding. She'd find some that were reddish in colour, while some were more grey. She found one that was shiny like the leopard had described, but it wasn't the same colour that he wanted. She mused that perhaps if that dark colour had sparklies in it, then perhaps there might be another around. Mani was persistant in her efforts. She always thought that as long as you try, you'll be rewarded in some way.

"It shouldn't be that difficult. Are your eyes impaired?" Linje shifted with more of a weary tone than impatience. He expanded his silvery claws, examining them meticulously. They definitely needed grooming, and if Mani found what he was looking for, it'd be the perfect tool for the job.
He slid a claw across the dirt, watching as it parted the dirt and rubble in its path. The faint sound of the lake's waning waters was relaxing. This was the perfect setting for a nap. But first, he had to instruct his new peasant... as soon as she found that elusive stone.

After what seemed like an eternity, Mani managed to find this elusive stone that her new friend had wanted. It was an okay size, not too bid, but not too little. A perfect size to her eyes. Though she still didn't know what the leopard had wanted with it, but it wasn't much her own business to know. " I found the pretty stone you wanted. " mani smiled to herself, feeling rather happy about the accomplishment.

"Excellent. Let me see." Linje gazed at the stone halfheartedly. "Hmmm... Not perfect, but it will do." He flicked his turquoise-tipped tail, leaning over to rest on his side. Closing his eyes, he commanded her to file his claws with it.
"Gently. Just so their sharp enough to scar bone." He grinned, settling into the dirt for a nap. Though, he didn't completely let down his guard. Although he didn't feel threatened by the female, it was never smart to trust a stranger too much.

Mani wasn't too sure about filing anothers' claws before. She'd only ever done her own, and.. she didn't feel too comfortable doing this. But, she swallowed her worry and did it anyway. Though the cheetah still worried she would accidentally hurt him. The last thing she wanted to do was to hurt her new companion. That would make her feel so horrible.

Linje revealed his silver claws as he stretched in his awkward side-ways position. A long, drawn out sigh followed as the cheetah worked on them. "You don't talk much, do you?" His voice was barely a grunt by the time he began drifting off to dreamland. "Tell me a story, or... something entertaining."
That's right. Entertain me, groom me, serve me. In the end, you'll be blessed endlessly for it all. Or not, it just depends on my mood at the time. The leopard huffed proudly, lulling himself to sleep with all the thoughts of his superiority.

Mani tilted her head slightly. A story? She'd heard stories, but never had the chance to tell one herself. Should she just repeat an old tale that she'd heard as a cub? ..Or, perhaps make up something herself? Mani knew herself well enough, that she had enough imagination to do so. However, the dark cheetah didn't know what kind of stories this leopard would like.
Hmmm...
" There once, a long time ago, a cheetah and a Lion. They had been close friend since adolescence, and helped each other through the pains of life. The lion had helped the cheetah through tough times like, her parents slow decent into death. He also helped her get through having an abusive and forceful mate, whom later had left her for a member of his own family. The cheetah had helped the lion through his tough times as well. Broken family, a mate who was equally as abusive, and early ejection from his family. She helped him sustain himself, and find a place to survive. .." Mani paused for a minute, trying to collect her thoughts before continuing. " As friends they had grown close to each other. As adults, they became even closer. Eventually, they became mates, though they were both still rather unsure of where the relationship would take them. But, they'd find out together. .." Mani paused again, to let what she'd said sink into her listeners' head. If he was paying attention that is.

"Pffth." Linje rolled his eyes as Mani paused her story. "That sounds just ridiculous. What kind of lion would waste his time on a cheetah?" Only after the words escaped his lips did he realized he was in the presence of a cheetah. But, he instantly shrugged it off. The leopard found it particularly easy, and almost relaxing to be so aloof around Mani. Maybe this was an opportunity to test his limits....
"Cheetahs are weak. Pathetic and weak." He motioned to Mani's legs. "So scrawny, almost like a stick... and sticks break easy. The only thing cheetahs are good for is to feed vultures. I just hope cheetah meat doesn't make the vultures sick." Linje smirked, eyes twinkling wickedly as he watched his company's reaction. "Anyways, that story makes me want to vomit. Tell a different one. And don't forget to groom my claws while you're at it."

Mani paused , giving no sign that Linje's words had any real effect on her. No ear twice. No awkward shifting. She merely looked at him and said, " We all have our strengths, and our flaws. Just like anyone else. " The purple cheetah said calmly. In truth she'd heard these words before, and knew it wouldn't be the last time that they were spoken either.
Mani sighed deeply, but continued her story despite her companions objection. " ..Several years had passed, and still they were together. The lion and cheetah had many happy times with one another, but, the lion still had feelings of uncertainty. Mainly about himself. There came the day that the lion decided that it was time to end the relationship. the cheetah was completely devastated, and felt her heart sink in her chest. The lion stated that he cared for her deeply, and loved spending time with her but; in the end he didn't want to end up hurting her. He didn't trust himself, due to what happened in his previous relationship. The cheetah understood, but wished that he hadn't let his own fears from the past cloud his future. "

"I know you have flaws. But I certainly don't." The leopard huffed, obviously frustrated that he hasn't offended her yet. Oh well, she'll crack eventually. And then the story continued. Ugh, I guess I'm not getting my well deserved nap today.
"They were still together?!" Linje found every opportunity he could to interrupt her story. "Well, duh he had uncertainty. The cheetah probably looked and smelled worse than a pig's a**." The leopard snarled, lifting himself from his relaxed state and extending his claws. "Not to mention she'd probably lose an eye or two if she didn't shut the hell... UP!" Linje roared as Mani's words tapered off. He leveled his face with hers, gleaming fangs revealed and a fiery glare in his eyes. "Now... are you finished? 'Cause... if you're not... I'd be glad to rid you of that awful voice."

Dark purple eyes started calmly into the leopard's fiery glare. His sharp tongue still trying to sting her, like a scorpion. The acidic tone to her companions words still don't no effect on her. It was like water rolling off of her fur. Never stopping, never seeping in. Mani knew very well what he was trying to do. She'd learned long ago not to let ill words seep in. They held no power to her.
" No. " Mani said simply, still equally as calm as before Linje had shown any real anger towards her. " I'm not done. Are you done trying to anger me? to frighten me? "

Linje paused, stunned that the cheetah had become so defiant after such a submissive event. He felt it was necessary to assert his dominance, standing tall to tower over the cheetah. It wasn't often he needed used his powerful appearance to his advantage, but this was a special occasion. Linje was only starting to enjoy Mani's company, and to let her disintegrate into a rebellious kitten would be shameful.
"Fear is essential to survival in this world." He lifted a shimmering white paw, extending a freshly sharpened claw and held it threateningly against her neck. "It's apparent you need to learn your place. I command you to be silent." Linje's glare still held firm as the claw tested the vulnerability of the cheetah's flesh. He still craved to see her cower, and if it wasn't going to happen this way... he had other methods.

Mani exhaled deeply. She wasn't a Seer, but it was plain to see what was to come for him. Perhaps there was a tinge of sadness in her sigh, not like her leopard companion would catch it. Or maybe he would, who knew. Not like he'd believe her words anyhow. However, for all she knew, maybe the lesson wouldn't happen to him. Ha, fat chance of missing him though. For someone like this, they always ended up swallowing some humble pie.
Mani could feel the slight pin pricks from the tips of Linje's claws. She kept staring back at him calmly. Her purple eyes, staring into Linje's. " ...As you wish. "

Linje pulled his claws away, misreading the sigh of sadness as a breath of fear. "That's a good pet." He grinned, lowering his white form on the bay of the watering hole. It was time for a true nap, without a purple figure hovering over him. And then after that... he'd groom up the rest of his fur, and go find something to eat. Yup, he had the rest of his day planned out. Mani was entertaining, but now his social craving was satisfied. If you could even call it social...
"Well, this meeting was fantastic. I hope we see each other again, Mani." The leopard waved a paw nonchalantly in the cheetah's direction. "You are dismissed." He rested his head upon his paws, watching the sun's reflection dance in sparkles across the water. He was oblivious to his fate, one that the cheetah had silently predicted. Even if it was revealed to him, he'd deny it... And it'd just make him suffocate that much more.
