Macha climbed the steep incline from HanGengs den to the area some way above Haku's den, whose was the den that over looked all the other dens. Though while Macha had been out collecting herbs for Reaction in late autmun she had noticed one or two older dens higher up than Haku's and a little more isolated from the others, this was where she was heading, somewhere way from the other dens and other wolves, somewhere where she could think about what she wanted from life as HanGeng had instructed her to do.
The area beyond Haku's den was close to the boarders and this was the only thing Macha feared, was an encounter with Haku before she intended for one to occur while he was patrolling the boundaries. She hoped however with the influx of members to the ever growing pack that boarder patrols now fell more heavily to HanGeng and finally each higher rank could now carry out there indented roles without having to fore fill the responsibilities of other higher ranking members of the pack now that they had been allocated to the new wolves.
She had heard rumours of the Hunting captain being appointed and that he had made his den up in the older denning area, away from the others as he often preferred his own company or that solely of his mate, thus she wondered if she would encounter him. Either way Macha knew this would be good for her, time away from HanGeng and training and also Reaction, as much as she loved both her tutors she knew HanGeng was right, she needed to now focus on other things other than hunting and physical training or herbalism with Reaction.

A great purple wolf rested calmly alongside the mouth of his den, not far from the borders that Macha was approaching, his head cocked lazily to the side with his eyes closed as though asleep. Once upon a time, Notoka was a leader of a pack with children at his paws and a she-wolf at his side, but now he could only dream of such memories. His once gleaming coat of plum was now a dusty medium purple with patches of grey overtaking his muzzle and legs and scars littered his body to show his hard life, yet his teal eyes and hearing were sharp as ever. He was a loner now. His children gone on to their own lives and his mate gone, perhaps dead. Notoka had no idea and had resigned himself to a solitary life. It was the sound of Macha's approach that dragged him from his lazy slumber, an ear swiveling towards the noise while the rest of him appeared unconcerned. In his youth, he'd bristle and raise to his feet with his tail flagged high in challenge; today, he'd rather sit until he knew that he was going to be truly disturbed at all.

Macha was young and fit and she did not tire as the incline became steeper but she did have to slow to watch her step. She she hauled herself up a small rocky outcrop she puffed out a large breath which misted in the cold winter air, more bitter than ever at this height. She turned about and looked down the hill she had just conquered and then out over the vast expanse to which Haku had foundered the pack within. She was starting to understand why HanGeng and other members of the pack spoke so foundily of this place, it truly was wondrous. Awe struck by the wonders of the landscape in front of her Macha failed to catch the scent of the other wolf at first but with a large gust of wind blowing down the remains of the hill the scent entered her nostril.
Macha turned slowly, the scent was not strong enough to indicate that the male wolf was directly behind her to cause her alarm and she was cautious at this height with spinning in the snow and ice at a quick pace. She looked up the hill, endless black eyes searching. The scent of the wolf was one she did not recognise and being close to the boarder she did not know whether HanGeng or any of the others had yet greeted the stranger to the packs territory and deemed them 'safe'.
A flash of purple in the white winter wonderland and Macha's observant eyes were drawn off immediately towards the rare colour. It was at the up most stretch of her vision and therefore she wagered out of the packs territory, but still what was the other doing so close to the pack's lands? Macha threw caution to the wind, even though she knew HanGeng had trained her other wise perhaps a word or to from a stranger may help with her problems, 'Hello there.' She called out quite simply.

The male's eyes finally slit to reveal the teal irises that had once drawn the attention of so many wolves back when he was young and in his prime, both ears drawing forward as his head turned to center on the young wolf cresting the hill. The adornments about her neck and back drew a critical stare from the elder wolf, but he shrugged them off quickly; he'd seen odder things.
Alas, it seemed he was not to go unnoticed today. She was looking his way and didn't seem to disregard his existence and go about her way. When she spoke to him, his suspicions were confirmed. So she wanted to talk? Very well. Despite her relatively nonthreatening appearance, he was not going to trust her so easily, so he got to his feet and adopted a neutral stance which was easier to spring to action from should he need to.
"Greetings," he also replied in a simple manner, his voice somewhat gruff from age but also suspicion.

Macha let her head slump to one side her curiosity piqued, the male did not advance yet and therefore had not yet broke the pack's boundaries, she wondered what his intentions had been or still was to be so close to the pack lands. He was cautious though, the tone of his voice indicated that to her but also something else, the voice itself, rather that it's tone, was old much like Haku's if not more aged. If he indeed was as old as she now presumed she was in a lot of trouble if the wolf was hostile.
Macha weighted up the situation, he may be friendly, in which case she had little to fear though if he was indeed hostile she knew it wasn't a long spirit to reach the main dens and cry for help and any call upon this high peek would carry forth some way even before she had to start her descent. Macha looked up the hill and tried to figure out the males expression to indicate anything to her, but it was to far all that she could simply say was that his pose was neutral.
Finally Macha's strongest personal trait shone through and the bold female began climbing up the last part of the hill towards the male to get a closer look though before the distant was to close that she wouldn't have much of a head start should she indeed need to escape Macha asked after his intentions, 'What brings you to the edges of Draug Faroth's pack lands?'

He watched her approach with a passive expression, though his eyes never left her lithe form winding across the land. The question she presented was enough to make him issue a snort of amusement and the faintest hint of a laugh.
"These were my lands long before they were Draug Faroth ones, youngling," he replied bluntly, an edge to his voice that was amused but also sad or nostalgic. "Nothing brings me here other than this is...was...my home."

Youngling? Maybe so but Macha was getting tried of being treated as one nowadays, forever under the tuition of the other adults in the pack, Haku was right about one thing, it was time for her to stand on her own. The statement that the elder issued forth though intrigued her, these were his lands? Haku had claimed these were once his lands when his former pack had been whole, perhaps her alpha was mistaken but she didn't like the idea of doubting in and believing this stranger instead, the old wolf must be mistaken. The sadness which unlined his voice though, below his annoyed amusement with her, seemed to tell her something though; here was an old wolf in front of her that remembered better times. She wondered if he could help her, advise her with life and what it had to offer and then perhaps she could help herself after a little guidance.
'Nothing?' The female questioned simply as she edged a little closer, endless black eyes locking on to the knowledgeable teal gems gleaming with past glories in a muted purple and grey dusted black frame.

"Nothing."
Notoka shifted some in stance, his forelegs sore from a long stint of lying upon the cold earth, but otherwise did not relinquish nor advance to the female. The she-wolf smelled of a lot of other wolves and some were scents he recolonized simply from laying outside his den. She looked well fed and well taken care of; a pack female, probably. It'd do him a disservice to snap at her and chase her on her way and besides, she wasn't harming him. He also didn't need a horde of angry males snapping at his door.
"This is my home den and these used to be my packlands. Not any longer, as my children have moved on and my beloved has been missing for many seasons now...but I have lived here my entire life." He sighed wistfully at that. "Now I have nothing to live for nor nothing to die for so I am here for no reason other than to just be."

Macha somehow felt she was encroaching on the males privacy but ever curious the sense that she should leave him was overridden and she closed the space between them and sat herself down quite promptly in front of him. Macha had little airs or graces even with Reactions tuition; she just saw no point in them. She shuffled her shoulders, as she sat the leather straps that kept her ravens feathers in place tighten and often pinched her skin but once she shook them out the arrangement sat quite comfortably upon her back. Endless black eyes focused on a dull emerald green.
Her voice was not sorrowful and neither did pity enter her voice as she questioned the male further, ‘Just to be? But why, why have you not found something to continue to live for or even die for?’ Macha had come to these higher lands to escape from the rest of the pack yet to still be close by should something arise. HanGeng had told her to listen to her heart and figure out what she wanted from life, here in front of her was a wolf that had had something to life for and perhaps he even thought once, to die for. Though he had lost these things, what had they been and why couldn’t he find them again. She wanted desperately to know as she thought it may help her in her own personal quest, ‘just to be’ did not sound like something she wanted to go through life doing.
