When a member of squad twelve is in battle He/She has the unique ability due to some entry tests to be able to connect with there Zanpactou, Not spiritually, But Physically.
For a short time in battle the squad twelve members can contact there zanpactou and switch sides (so to speak), In actual fact the zanpactou make themselves visible to the opponent by taking over the body of its weilder,
So for a short time only the zanpactou can go wild against the enemy in constant bankai mode (( when i say short time only it lasts for 7 posts max ))
