>.< Ok so our school is poor and crappy. Our levy (thingy where people vote and if we pass we get money :]) Yea well it hasnt passed in a while so our school is poor. This year if it doesn't pass they take sports and electives away my Junior year which is 2012. That means no more marching band. Now I'm hearing if Marching band dissepears there won't be a band at all. Meaning no Concert band. D: It sucks, I love marching band its sooo much fun. But since our school is a poor house we might not get it anymore >.<

I feel your pain. Our school didn't grant us the 20k so none of the sports, including band, didn't get any money. We're in a hole right now with Hurst Music because we can't pay for the repairs. We're debating whether or not to have marching band but nothing has been decided yet. I know we'll have it next year, though, because they have already picked out our music.

My school has a constant threat of cutting fine arts progrms, especillay band. n fact, the whole state has been cutting music programs throughout the year. I once heard that they cut the music prgorams at my middle school, but my friend says that his sister, who goes to that school, is in band, so I'm not sure(they weren't at honor band festival held at our school, which worries me, since they were one of the best midlles school band programs in the city) Right now they are trying to find ways to add enrollment numbers to our school to give it more money. The main ideas are emrging with one of our main feeder schools and having a double campus. The other idea is adding a charte school to our campus.

Lots of schools in my area cut it I live in hawaii, where we have very little money dedicated to public schools in this state, so many times our band is running off the money that we the students generate. Shows would not be possiable without tthe work we do. but the administration hates band apparently. they dont really care.

Our band is WAY in debt right now, and it's mostly because no one pays their band fees anymore (there was a lawsuit against paying any fees for school-related activities, so people still think we shouldn't have to pay to keep things running). We were told today that if we don't get in band donations, we may not have a solid program at all next year, and we'd be taking away from Jazz and Orchestra. It's really depressing...and stressful.
The school my boyfriend wanted to teach tuba lessons at cut its music program recently. sad
It's really sad to see what a hurt economy is doing to us performing arts kids. :[

ClarinetGoddess My school has a constant threat of cutting fine arts progrms, especillay band. n fact, the whole state has been cutting music programs throughout the year. In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance...
Our administration always seems to jump cutting band and other fine arts (specifically music) whenever they need more money for their $100K+ admin jobs' bonuses. Frankly, I'm sick of it. If any one of you all want to march up to Washington's Department of Education and DEMAND, for our RIGHTS as AMERICAN CITIZENS to have what the AMERICAN CITIZENS want, feel free to contact me.
Seriously, I'm sick of people only thinking about the near-future and never the long-term consequences for OUR generation. WE should decide what WE WANT for US. Specifically, WE WANT FACKING BAND. NO BULLSH*T. PERIOD.
... In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace, what did they produce? The cuckoo clock.
