"Phuh, what a little coward." Remus muttered to himself as Evros slumped to the floor. The Imperator walked over to where Kaok was standing and looked at the machine. He wasn't quite aware that the projector was what was keeping William there.
"I don't understand, Kaok...what is so important about that machine?"

"It's... it...-" She started to say, now noticing that the human man hadn't disappeared yet.
"It's what Evros used to bring me back." William answered, still quite obviously feeling guilty that he'd been the lure for the doctor's trap. "I can't survive without it running... I give it five minutes before I'm corpsified again - which I can't have you see."
Kaok didn't - or couldn't - say a word.
"It's been good seeing you again, Kaok..."
She looked to the ground. "I know about... it."
"... I know." An awkward silence. "I should have told you."
"I should have helped you."
"Well, let's not get into that territory."
More silence, suddenly stopped when William began to speak in Greek.
"Anything you could have done and didn't, you've repented for well enough by now. Stop blaming yourself, move on, live the wonderful life that you're going to have with Remus. Just... don't worry about me." Kaok's eyes began to tear up as William began looking for a place to hide so that none of them would see what would come next. "I'm proud of you, you're my daughter and I...
"And I love you. Goodbye."
They shared one last hug before William started to revert to his older self, and then gradually start to pale. For lack of any better place, he jumped into the Window, and was gone forever.
Kaok just stood there.

The nobles were silent, but in a remarkable reversal of circumstance-
It was the sorcerer who looked away, trying desperately to hold back tears and Emma who was squeezing his hand even tighter. Kaok had finally been able to say goodbye; he had never had that chance.
But another impulse called her away from her husband and towards the stricken Faun. Emma stood beside the Faun, not touching her, not saying a word. Just being there.

Remus felt multiple emotions flood through him. He felt relief to have Kaok back, but felt her grief. He gently squeezed her shoulder once before turning around to walk outside. He was sick of being in the lab.
"If you need me, I'll be outside." and he slowly turned and walked out through the door. Once outside, Remus was finally able to get a signal. He quickly called the GRPD, a HAZMAT team and some personnel from Terror Legion to quietly clear out the lab and shut everything down.

Chris watched the whole scene with a watering eye, Feel furious, Happy and sad. Everything was so confusing, Chris yawned as she felt sleepiness overwhelming her. She simply walked over to James and sighed, As the first tear fell down. "Such a bitter sweet ending to this whole affair.." And with a smile tears still falling from her eye, Chris collapsed into James arms, Fast asleep.

James tried very hard not to fall asleep as well, but it really had been a long day. And he desperately hoped that his best friend was okay.
She didn't say anything, but she didn't appear to be in any sort of catatonic state either. Her face was unreadable, but someone who truly knew her would know that underneath she was trying not to cry. Though it was clear that it wasn't near as bad as the first time - not that any of them would have been there personally - she was still holding back a veritable flood of tears.
((Aaaand it's pretty much over, but staying to RP the aftereffects is cool if anyone wants to.))

A small, feminine hand squeezed Kaok's shoulder as the enchantress tried to send some sort of signal to Kaok that it was alright to cry, that she should cry.
It didn't even occur to the elf that she had two bullets in her shoulder and she was bleeding still.

"Emma..."
She started to, slowly, but it didn't feel right in front of everyone. Not in front of Chris, who she didn't know as well as the others. Not in front of James, who was supposed to have some semblance of respect for her. She didn't even feel right crying in front of the nobles, to some degree. What did Kaok know about grief after all, compared to them?

Emma didn't say a word. She just squeezed the Faun's shoulder a little tighter. Kaok knew plenty about grief compared to them. Hrothbert drew a little closer, standing on the other side of the Faun. He looked a little out of place, wondering if he should leave. Emma shook her head when Kaok wasn't looking.
Stay.
Are you sure?
Yes.

Kaok glanced at the floor, trying to hide the worst part of the crying.
Did I think that he was going to stay? You stupid... And the Faun couldn't even finish that, she didn't know the word word what sort of stupid she was.
