What it says. Please feel free to post anything you found to be disturbing and maybe suggest ways to improve these aspect of the guild.

Well, I still think that it is a great idea, but having the complete class setting may have been it's downfall. Having to wait on so many people to post so something can happen really increased the waiting time and if someone didn't post it stuffed things up...

you should not make this bleach based, if it was just any characters go, it would be a lot more interesting.

You do realise the insanity that could be caused by such a thing don't you? We don't want sharingan using rubber shinigami running around the place. Besides, the plot is Bleach based. For every bleach RP there is, there also seems to be two normal school rp's.

While i agree that the waiting for others was probably its downfall, there was also some confusion to where everyone was in the school.
And don't forget the different time-zones everyone is in what probably only increased the confusion to where one was supposed to go.

O.o people actually posting! ^^ *does the happy dance*

Very glad to hear you like the overall concept.

As for the idea that we should keep the academy setting without the Bleach-base - well, I used to be in such a guild. And it died after a less than a month, and the confusion far exceeded anything we've seen here. Besides, there would also be the matter of what classes to have.

Okay, I see your point in where the class system had gone wrong. Theoretically, it shouldn't have gone that way - if people were active, it shouldn't pose a problem.

As for the confusion where everyone was... that's quite easily solved. A whereabouts topic could be made, where each char would have his own post (only one!) telling his location, and would edit it once the char moved.

Different timezones are inevitable. In every guild I've been so far, I had some problems with timezones, being from Europe and most of the others from USA. But there's really nothing we can do about that.

The only matter concerning timezones that we could change is the fact that classess and events were time-scheduled... but we did send the guild announcements early enough for everyone to know, though.

So... any suggestions for a class system that would be more effective than the original one?

Well one thing I'd like to point out is this.

Classes are BOOOOORING. Nobody likes to emulate going to a real school, except weird people. When we come home we hope to get away from this controlled atmosphere and so. The idea of these classes is completely flawed.

Instead, a system where you pick and choose what classes to go to would be good. There could be so many teachers each teaching subjects and the students pick and choose which ones to go to.

Of course, it would take loads more crew member but y'know. Having a strong crew is never a bad thing.

You could need to pass so many classes to get a pass in that area and could also work at it more for more advanced stuff.

YOu'd also need to fully do the lore and layout of the school. A school that's just made of classrooms is boring. You need to write everything about the school and the mysteries and such surrounding it. That way, the school becomes a potentially exciting place to run around just looking for trouble.

Another thing you could introduce is a few game mechanics. Say each student gets 12 credits or something like that allowance every month. You could set up shops and things and places to spend this. If you add mechanics like that it can change how people will act and what they'll do. It's one of those things you see in real life but, because you don't HAVE to play with it except for buying food occasionally or something else that takes your fancy, it becomes not so urgent. In addition it opens up new ways of characters relating. It means people can become bullies for more than just, LOL EYE'M A BADGUY.

Basically, what I think you were lacking was the freedom needed to make something fun and enough complexity to keep people playing.

Well. Those are just a few ideas. Enjoy your discussion.

... Damn you and your sophistication Pad....

But yes, mechanics like credits do make a difference.

Timezones are a part of roleplaying... so few Roleplayers live in Australia you really get used to Rp'ing with insomniacs from across the globe, tis great... but confusing.

A posting frame before someone becomes ignored in a class. Someone doesn't post within the required time without a reasonable excuse and they 'fall asleep' and as such, get into trouble.

O.o that are some great ideas, Pad!

The only problem that I see with the class system you suggested, is that we'd need one hell lotta members for that.

Well the main point of an Academy are the classes, at least in my opinion. And the initial idea was to have a mix between theory and practical classes, which should cover up the basics. But since people didn't post, everything stood still.

Also, I agree, having a strong crew is great, but realistically speaking, we could never have enough members to pull that one off. We intentionally reduced the number of classes to the four we had exactly because we saw what happened in other guild with too many crew members and therefore not enough "normal" rp-ers. I mean look at practically every other Bleach guild. The idea of 13 squads is awesome in theory, but first finding 13 semi-capable captains, then for each of them a vice captain, next one or 2 members and possibly some people playing the bad guys... The minimum would be having 60 members, which is of course possible, but most of these people don't even post on a regular basis/after some time at all.
We only had 4 teachers and 3 assistants plus I think 4 other crew members and is already didn't work, because people didn't post.

School layout, ok, it's true, it would have been easier to make things work if people actually knew how the place looked. I honestly didn't even think about that.

And the economy system... kudos for that, didn't even cross my mind, but I like the idea. Definitely need to give that a try.

And about the freedom... I think it is plausible that from the start of a guild one has a certain path to walk on, until everyone is settled in... we didn't actually even get past one day of rp-ing. Yes, the plan may have been a bit complicated, so that shall be revised as well. And that is basically the main cause why we didn't even get to the more interesting plot points.

We'll think about these things and try coming up with a more effective solution to the problem... sweatdrop Work smile

Well, people probably stopped posting since the teachers didn't come followed by assistants, followed by students. Or at least that is my guess.

And there where 6 crewmembers who where not a teacher or a assistant, 3 assistants and 2 teachers, not 4 teachers, 3 assistants and 4 other crew members ^^ (That is, according to the profiles page)

Just want to say: If you try and breathe life back into this, I'll come back happily. I still think this is a good idea, but maybe could be executed better?
Incidentally, sorry I just disappeared.

If I may say, maybe the houses weren't such a good idea? It did pull the group of RPers in half sorta. Especially since it looked like people in Senbei(?) had a lot of short posters with aggressive characters. I personally would have found that frustrating if I were a detailed poster with short posters being prominent/prone to aggression.
(Forgive me if I've made an unjust generalisation there. Its just what I gathered from the posts I peeked at when I was last here.)

Also... the silliness of the waffle event sorta put me off, since everything seemed so serious before it.

And finally, to:

Maybe someone could make a map?

Hope that helps.

I don't know if this transfered to any other teaching/assisting staff RPers but at some point I just gave up as it seemed all of the students just... stopped posting, frankly. One part of the lesson would end and the next would start only to be greeted by a nice, cold silence that sort of put me off the whole thing.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a wonderful idea for a RP (Yes, I'm one of those weird people that would actually enjoy a realistic school setting because come on, what schools today allow swords in the classroom?) but the incentive to post wasn't a demanding one. Perhaps a system of post count to distinguish more active students from the more inactive so that teachers are able to keep an eye out and help those that may have trouble coming up with posts?

I also realize that a system like that would take dedication not only on the teachers' parts but the students as well.
