Lal' had known the girl, Lani since they were pre-schoolers. It wasn't until now, almost a decade later, that he began noticing the little movements she made. Lal' even took note of the smallest insignificant details. Right now her attention was on the video they had popped into the vcr. Thankfully so, because that way she wouldn't catch him staring at her. He watched the images from the television dance in random flashes, onto the canvas of her face. It was dark and the video didn't interest him in the least.
Lal' peered into her sillouhette, catching every curve and shape that composed the youthful girl. He compared the textures of her skin and her nightwear, which was basicly an old oversized shirt. He wondered how he had overlooked the small details from before. More so, he pondered why he noticed them now. Why did they hold so much weight now?
Dimples formed on Lani's smooth cheeks as she chuckled at the pre-recording. She nonchalantly glanced at Lal', to comfirm whether or not he was laughing along. He nervously squirmed and reflexively looked away to avoid eye contact. Lal' relunctantly made a double take. He knew she'd caught him gawking at her. Embarrasment boiled over him. He wanted nothing more to place his gaze in her direction, but found his neck stiffened by weakness. No, there was a wall to hinder him. On that invisible wall was crudely enscribed, "awkward delusion." Lal' could only make out the enscription from the corner of his eye and that was when summoned his deficient amount of courage to crane his neck in the slightest. He kept that uncomfortable position to the point of strain and exhaustion. He felt stupid.
